In ten years time from today the children of the world will not go to public school, but in fact be tought homeschool, in a cyberschool. Cool huh?

Post 2

No they wont....

Post 3

Does this bloke exist or is he some kind of new spambot? Designed to post pointless 2 line threads.

Post 4

Home schooling via video conference (virtual classrooms) has been talked about for a couple decades now. I don't think we'll see it eventuate for a very, very long time, if at all.

Post 5

it is getting used in remote areas by NTOEC

Post 6

Definitely not given the rate that Australian broadband is progressing ;)

Post 7

Australian Broadband is progressing??

Post 8

didnt someone write a book about homeschooling through a robot and it caused some trouble around teachers groups?

Ghxst ZPC?

Post 9

no way he is ZPC :P

Post 10

If it was ZPC it would say in five years time all children will be taught from home by alien cucumbers who took over the earth with assistance from john howard, george bush, hitler, and the teletubbies.

Post 11

in ten years time he'll dredge up this thread again imo.

Post 12

schooling will stay how it is for decades to come. its great from a parents point of view. baby sitting of 2 kids at a child care facility is about 150 a week per kid. and sending them to a public school is what 150-200 for the year.
i hope i can send my kids to school when there 5 and not have them learn at home. plus they will meet friends and stuff.

Post 13

what they should do is make school last from 8 - 5 with regular breaks throughout the day. so parents that work dont HAVE to pay for babysitters... and also you wouldnt end up with as many little shits on the street all the time

Post 14

It's 7~4 back when I was in grade school then 8~5 in high school (Yr 10 to Yr 12 by Australian equivalent)

Oh nice idea, except do you know any teachers that want to stay and work later? ;)

Post 16

Teachers != child care.

Maybe if they got a pay rise ;) and block release from classes to do administration during working hours.

Post 18

When I attended school back on those days it was 8am start & 2:30pm finish that was a kick ass high school, gives you time to go home dump your bag grab a bit to eat then head out to the shopping maul or video game arcade..... :)

Post 19

Back in the days when the shopping malls were still "shopping mauls."

The extra time at the mall to distract you from study obviously did wonders for you. :P

I have seen a lot of criticism about Ghxst in the last few days since he joined. Is this how we treat all new members that don't understand the way things work?

Post 23

i thought that was how ALL members were treated Longtom =)

Post 24

As long as they understand I guess

I agree mate; I've been pretty dissapointed with the treatment of Ghxst, and have even physically removed some replies from various members due to their idiocy and preference to belittle rather than support.

Post 28

If he can't handle simple criticism about necroposting in 2 year old threads then he should GTFO.

Post 30

He has handled the critisism just fine (I haven't actually seem him relpy to a negative comment yet), but this is entirely beside the point.

Post 31

If given the choice, my kids won't be homeschooled. And currently I have that choice.

As much as school can suck, the lessons learned in social interaction are as valuable as the curriculum. IMO.

Post 32

You're just suddenly on this guys side cause Paladin dissed him. I know it. :D

Summary of what it said:

Rec can't spell.
Gxhst needs to read the forum guidelines, stop necroposting & make his threads a discussion point, rather than drivel. He's just the typical newbie, needs to learn the forum etiquette and people have to realise he's new - giving him the appropriate leeway.
