Default settings for the video card in the driver (mip map etc all default)... Running 3D Mark 2001 with all default settings running through once only.
3D Mark 2001 Score = 7453
This score is achieved by running the GF3 video card at 240/500MHz...
If anyone has faster system what sort of specifications? Or how did you tweak the extra performance out of it?
a Dual Penitum 1Ghz = 2Ghz 2Gb RAM G450 (It is only for development) 4x40Gb IBM HDD = 160Gb
I could go on about the Zip Tape Burner CDROM DVD, Scanner and a host of other peripherals but I won't.... you get the picture. Its not used for gaming, only developing
Dude dual 1 Ghz P3 doesn't = 2Ghz all it is = 2 is twice the amount of threads that can be processed.(ie 20-60% more grunt depending on SMP support) Are you using the AB-VP6 Dual S370 Mobo coz i'm Putting together a 2 x P3 1Ghz @ 1.2 1Gb of PC150 60Gb IBM 60GXP 20Gb Firebal LX SCSI SE inteface SCSI Burner Did have a G400(loved it dearly till it died [Image: http://bbs.gamers.octa4.net.au/smile.gif] GF2 MX400 64Mb
for 3d development in 3ds,worldcraft(HL) with SMP VIS tools
Crusher - just leave a message here for me (if I don't see you beforehand in your shop) if/when you'd like me to help out with the mod - I'd love to do it (especially to see how far it will go with that water cooling rig on it).
ok xaine you beat my arse.... and i KNOW how you did it you geforce 3 super tweaker...
I might get you to help me tweak my geforce 3 card with the voltage mods....
I am going to add a water-block for the video card too, so it will run off the same cooling setup as my processor... and I am going to re-design my water-cooling setup to improve cooling performance....
I am getting the new KT266A chipset A7V266 board in a week or two, plus I am getting 512DDR of Kingmax PC2700 (if available in Australia yet) or maybe just Kingmax PC2400... then I can run my processor at 1.6GHz tooooo easily....
What core/mem do you get your gf3 to? I run mine constantly at 240/500 even in hot rooms now that I have my thermaltake blorb / memory cooling gear.... Once I water-cool the GPU I will do the voltage mod and whip your ass...
Oh yeah, with my new board and new memory, I am going to get over 8000 points [Image: http://bbs.gamers.octa4.net.au/smile.gif]
cd burner [Image: http://bbs.gamers.octa4.net.au/smile.gif] dvd and normal cd rom bah hahaha oh yeah all external [Image: http://bbs.gamers.octa4.net.au/smilies/cwm27.gif]
------------------ "Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."
I just found out my warranty is void anyways [Image: http://bbs.gamers.octa4.net.au/smile.gif] becuase I put the thermaltake memory cooling gear on my card, i no longer have a warranty...
so, there is nothing really stopping me from doing this modification and getting hugely better overclocking out of my card...
i can run it at 250/500 already so i can't wait to see what it will do with a voltage mod
why mod a G3 ?? no point already best video card out *hits crusher over the back of the head Damn overclockers you's only do it to find out if its possible..* [Blocked image] [Blocked image] [Blocked image]
After the 2 truck demos it crashes to windows and says something about a DDS file. On the faq at madonion, its says the cause is either o/c cpu or faulty memory. I havent o/c anything and both the cpu and ram are new. Quake3 works fine. Anyone know how to get 3dmark2001 working?
System win2000 abitKG7-raid athlon1800 256 DDR kingmax 2400
Ive also installed the latest amd pack, 4in1 via and the HPT raid driver. DX8.1
To tell you the truth I would have gone with a P4 system but with a new mobo, new power supply and that special ram for p4 cpus, it is more cheaper going for an athlon system/upgrade.
sounds like a problem with your video card. I get the same type of crashing with mine when I overclock my video card too high and it gets too hot [Blocked image]
I had problem with my brand new Kingmax DDR Memory as well. I bought the PC2700 parts and when I first installed them, I couldn't get my machine to run 3D Mark even at standard speed, but CS was working fine. I loaded the BIOS default settings, then overclocked my bus speed to 150MHz (300 Memory Bus) and set my CAS settings to 2.5, 2, 2, 5, 1T, added Fast Write for video card, set AGP Apeture to 64MB and turned on USWC video memory caching mode. Then, it is working fine [Blocked image]
Xaine: those scores of yours are they under Windows XP? I get lousy scores under XP. Very lousy. I could only JUST crack 10000 points in 3D Mark 2000 and only JUST crack 7000 points in 3D Mark 2001! What the HELL!
Everyone keeps saying Windows XP is faster?!?!?! BULLSHIT!
Unless I am doing something wrong, which I doubt. I have done a fair bit of tweaking, however I haven't checked out the Microsoft "making a fast booting machine" Windows XP tweaking information. I just used the tweaks in latest Atomic. Still, it is slower than 98SE. If no one can provide me with a fix, I might have to go back to 98SE when my new mainboard arrives.
I am getting A7V266-E RAID mainboard, plus another 40GB 7200rpm Western Digital hard drive. With my Kingmax PC2700 memory, that all equals TWEAKSVILLE SUPREMO! All I need now is an XP2500+ processor [Blocked image] hehehe
Win98SE is still my preferred choice... and if I feel like being a girl, I install Win2000...
not that theres anything wrong with win2000, it is absolutely marvelous... but, I must confess, I don't use ANY of the extra features of windows 2000, and I don't leave my system running 24 hours a day, so Windows 98 SE is much much better for me....
and it doesn't crash all the time like Windows2000 advocate loser types will tell you either... not if you set it up correctly it doesn't anyway [Blocked image]
Maybe this topic should be called "WHO DOESNT HAVE A FASTER COMPUTER THAN ME?" since everyone are buying Athlon XP processors now and geforce 3 titanium 500's etc etc.... DAMNIT [Blocked image] hehehe
i found that XP gave better performance in 3Dmark2K1 with nVidia cards, ATi and STMicro cards are a different story.
.....i think it is because you overclocked your card crusher, there was some bug in XP where it didn't use the speed it was set at under some programs, i am unsure whether 3Dmark was one of these but i do know that Vulpine was.
that is the only thing i can think of off the top of my head.
