In addition to the almighty presence of Daft Punk, we?ll also be enjoying sets from a number of acts on the Modular roster. Indie-electro rockers The Presets will be playing one of their last shows before they disappear to record their second album, while rising star Muscles will be clocking in, as will the ubiquitous Bang Gang DJ posse, also warming up the crowds.
As if that wasn?t enough, we?ll have a second international guest in the form of fellow French dance duo SebastiAn & Kavinsky. One of the current stable of French producers on the Ed Banger label, dominating dancefloors around the world, they come from a musical heritage that is inextricably linked to massive legacy left by Daft Punk, so their presence on the bill is appropriate indeed. How?s that for a massive lineup?

4th link down says Underworld / Chemical Brothers Combo Ticket, no dates scheduled. there have been rumors flying all over the place on ITM about that, but so far only chem bros has materialised. apparently chem bros will also be playing future music festival though i'd much rather see them in a side show.
Comparing Daft Punk to a local act and passing them off as a simply a light show is just asking for trouble, Res.
Regardless of opinion, it doesn't change the fact they're one of the biggest names in the genre, ever. And like them or not, surely you can acknowledge it's Daft-f*cking-Punk! :D
It's like a hardcore raver telling a progressive rock fan that Pink Floyd were nothing special and he'd rather head down to his local to see the pub band who happen to do prog-rock. He'd be a) naive or b) taking the piss. I hope you're b, buddy! :P

I love a good light show and Sound system to make your ears ring for 12+ hours but I'm not flying interstate... that's really my only point.
FYI - I used to be a sound and light engineer when a student in Dublin.... I know the value of a good sound and light show and thats all Daft Punk have to offer... not speccie backdrop etc.... dissapointing I think.

And my point was that they are the pioneers of their genre, one of the biggest names in the world when it comes to experimental electronica. They offer a lot more than "sound" and a light show.
For an example of an individuals perception with different tastes in music, to better understand why I say that, refer to my last post. ;)
Right its on..... What are they Pioneering exactly?? How to rip people off buy walking out onto stage and pressing start on a pre recorded 90 minute (press pause for interval) 'show'.
I have visions of Police academy and the lecturn, cause thats what the promoter has to do to get them to stay on the stage listening to the same songs over and over each night.
Go to two shows and tell me they are not the same tracks mixed 'live' in the same way.
They're one of the few electronic acts that actually mix their music live, throwing samples in real-time to reconstruct their recorded material (as opposed to two turn tables and a CDJ sorta thing). A few other big names in electronica than manage to pull this off are The Chemical Brothers and Rank 1. The picture attached is actually a Daft Punk setup.
Now stop your shit stirring and piss off to another thread kent! Better yet, post about a band you admire so I can tell you that they boast impressive audio engineering and a great stage setup but nothing more! ;)
thomas bangalter (half of daft punk) practically single handedly created modern house music (edit: well with a little help from a few other people but he was pretty much the leading figure of the movement). daft punk has been pushing the boundaries of house/electro and shit you can't even classify for more than 15 years. dance music as we know it today would be unrecognisable without those crazy french robots.
^ eh? well they were pretty big soon after that came out but yes, homework came out in 97 which was their first studio album. still they had a pretty big following before that - though i suppose it was homework which cracked the mainstream for them.

Its awesome and some of the best spots are along the sides on the outside if you cant get front row seats - but get in early cause once someone parks their arse there I can guarantee you wont get in.
IMO - musical (electronic) event of our generation in Australia, **** me it was awesome. Can't even put it into words.
I still can't get over it, I watch videos of the bris gig on youtube and the adrenaline, goosebumps and craziness come right back. I am simply so glad to have seen them in my lifetime, it's definately something I will be telling the grandkids about. Absolutely mind-blowing stuff.
Wolf Brothers are or were on tonight or maybe it was last night. I'd go or would have but I think I've used all the xmas money I've got. Oh that at Disco in Darwin btw.
Crazy-good concert. Was talking to oldies there who had seen the likes of Led Zeplin and Pink Floyd play live, and still believe it was the most entertaining event they've ever been to.
I'd be inclined to agree. Easily the best show I've ever seen, with the greatest electronica ever produced... a stroke of genius. Truly spectacular stuff.
That said, my greatest musical experience lies with Sigur Ros in Melbourne's Exhibition Centre, 2004.
a bloke i work with took time off to go the brissy concert apparently it was a ****ing trip..... massive awesome light show... and of course there awesome music.
