Well on the way to work this morning I noticed that at BP Palms lights on the stuart highway on the INBOUND side.
There is a single pole with a Security DOME camera up there ..
Its in the middle of the island looking at what I have no idea.
So question to evil angel i guess. Is this part of the new roll out?
I know that the police have set up cameras out at some rail way crossing to make sure people are stopping before crossing to avoid train accidents ..
is this possibly the same thing?
There is one on the intersection near harbour view plaza. DOnt htink its active yet as there is still plastic wrapping over the protective glass on the dome
its probably like London and its to stop bashings and stuff. After all those people got beat up in the city

In town there are no security cameras along the strip beyond the ones that clubs HAVE to put up by law.
the liquour license is being re written and means more will need the cameras to be installed. So these ones in the interestion, I figure are to do with the Gov'ts promise to put in red light cameras .. or maybe its a monitoring thing for the Roads to check on traffic flow etc etc.
Write into the NT news or somthing..
dunno what that might be. Theres a large number of accidents there, maybe for that? I'll ask the Traffic super when I see him next. Wouldn't be anything to do with red light camera's, they will be in vandal proof steel boxes. Making them very hot up here and unlikely to ever work. Like all the ones we have had already for the last 5 or more years. Thankfully we aren't the suckers who have to get those things going.

Those Domes usually have one-way tint - which means it could have anything inside it and could indeed be something else!
But if it has tint then its probably not a solar panel.

In Box Hill in VIC, where all the rice racer people are. They either fire bomb them or angle grind them off before a race... lol. They seem to get replaced ever month or so.

I tendered on the project... they are for traffic monitoring at high density intersections. Our company did not win the tender because there was too much earthworks in the project, but the system is only for reviewing the voulme of traffic. they transmit to the dept of transport and works - not the police...

Yeah spoke to the Traffic super this arvo and not his. So ^^ would make sense.
Additionally the tenders for the speed cameras has gone out and it wont be too long until we start to see them. Still I have major doubts that they will work, or at best be very very unreliable.

Ella Unseen - We ( Unseen knows who i work for :D ) installed the suckers and as DaveO they are just for monitoring traffic, also have almost full 360 swivel ability - do not know if they are able to be used for anything else but only time will tell.
Youll find the others on the corner of Tiger/Bennet/ Mcminn ( wharf side) and one at Stuart/ Woolner intersections.
As for too much earthworks - how much is too much?????

"It's quite sophisticated technology in that it can read the number plate and match it against the hit-list of (persons of) interest.
"This technology, you can put it across all lanes of traffic and what it will do is pick up vehicles up to 160km/h and up to about six cars a second.''
