So portal's kickass little end credit song reminded me: I've been meaning to ask about other cool/funny little songs developers have created for their games.

The ones I know about are:

Still Alive (Portal)
Mechanical Man (C&C)
Medieval Man (warcraft)
Worms bonus tracks (Worms)
Hell March, No Mercy, Smash (last bit, first sucks ;P ) (C&C Red Alert)
Last Ninja
Wizball
Marathon themes

what have i missed out on? Also - awesome bits of music like the Marathon 2 and Marathon infinity intro tunes, Halo (done to death i know but it ruled when it first came out).

Post 2

i'm a big fan of the soundtracks from final fantasy games, though they aren't really funny =)

Post 3

The bonus tracks on the original worms games were hell funny.

And imo the game with the best music ever is Metal Gear Solid 2, the music direction by Harry Gregson Williams is one of the greatest pieces of game music ever produced.

Post 4

yeeeees Worms had coolness :)

Post 5

We are worms,
We are worms,
and we're going win the war,
we're going win the war,
we're going win the war.

Post 6

Amiga games had the best soundtracks/ambient sounds imo.
The title goes to 'Blood Money', with 'Oops Up' a close second.

Post 7

JUST DO IT UP!

Post 8

With the Red Alert theme, are you referring to the Misirlou take-off that was at the end of the RA soundtrack disc after a long silence? It was based on the tune of No Mercy from CnC1 (and if you listen to Airstrike also from CnC1, it's the same tune too).

If not, then count that. :)

Post 9

cant recall the names, nor their locations on those CDs :P thinking the one with the frog march in it :)

Post 10

Lars, your mission is as follows:

1. Go to www.frankklepacki.com

2. In the player at the bottom click on CNC Series and play a track called No Mercy. Then listen to a track called Airstrike. They're both from CNC1. Marvel at how skillfully Frank Klepacki remixed the same tune into two completely different songs.

3. Then find a track called Smash on the list. It was the last track off the Red Alert soundtrack disc. Ignore most of it. Watch the time. Shortly after Smash finishes, at around 4:55 the bonus track will start. It is yet another remix of No Mercy/Airstrike in the style of Dick Dale's Misirlou (the signature guitar track from Pulp Fiction).

4. Add that track to your list of cool/funny computer game songs.

The music on the bridge, in the opening scene gives me goosebumps the whole way through.

Oh man, now I can't stop myself.

This says Chase HQ loader, but it was really a generic loader for Ocean games. Ocean Loaders 1 & 2 were by Martin Galway, 3 was by Peter Clark and 4 & 5 was by Jonathan Dunn. I think the music here is from Ocean Loader 5.

You, sir, ROCK!

It's been so long since I heard that. Gave me goosebumps...

The only song from any game that I used to hang out to listen too (waaaay back) was on the C64, a game called Parallax - the song went for about 15 - 30 minutes.

The only other good one that I used to enjoy was mentioned above - Blood Money for the Amiga.

Bonanza Bros. One of my all time favorite Sega games.

It's title music and game music were the bomdigity.

You can find 30-odd remixes of the Parallax theme here. Not to mention thousands of mixes from other C64 games, mostly very good stuff!
