GU launch Australia's first TF2 duel server

It's with great pleasure that I announce the erection of a server catering to 1v1 and 2v2 duel matches. The server runs Duel2 and Duel2 only (duel_duel2), a glorious recreation of the super-popular 1on1r duel map from QuakeWorld TeamFortress.

With a 4 player slot limit, this will give you the opportunity to hone your skills with friends, or trial potential new team recruits with a spectator or two to survey their skills. There is no win limit and no time limit, so frag 'till your heart's content.

At the moment there are no way to limit classes, so avoiding game-ruining events such as the use of sentry-gun-building engineers, cloaked spies and the heavy weapons guy will rely entirely on good sportsmanship at this stage. However, the minute server restrictions can be made, they will be.

have had good fun doing scout baseball bat duels and heavy fist fights =) though there are quite a few people going spy and heavy from what i saw. also sticky bombing the other teams entrance and waiting for people to join... =/

We are praying for Vavle/AdminTypeMod Makers to create class limiting abilities.

crits make this map useless and retarded, dominating someone in a duel just isn't the same when they can crit you randomly

Haven't seen *too* many crits while dueling. Minimal irritation so far.

In any case, hopefully crits are something that can be disabled in the future using an admin mod or a valve update.

pull out the secondary weapon for the sniper and aim at the head. Its like a ****ing crit pinball machine going nuts.

Would be awesome if you were able to set spectator slots like JK2 had for dueling.

except the sniper submachine gun is the worst weapon in the game. bar none. even the friggen needle gun is better.

i like it. its not to bad from a distance, so if you body shot someone you can finish them off in a chase.

It seems GameArena have followed our lead, and have put up some duel servers.

But we're a step ahead again, being the first to disable critical hits on ours. ;)
