I can see where the password is, but i can't read it clearly, if i made the picture a bit smaller the text in it might be a bit more readable without making any big modifications to it to read it. :P

Nowhere; if you are in the boat, the water is already displaced by the mass of the rock - the level stays the same.

^^ winner. although it will briefly drop while the rock is 'in the air' i guess. but seriously, unless its a boulder of warner brothers proportions, the water level isn't going to move an appreciable amount

Whether its a large amount of movement or not is irrelevant. Pala and unscarred are wrong and here is a hint - Its a proper physics question.

actually nevermind, the mass of the object spreads out over a larger surface area (the hull), so it depends on the size of the rock ;)

Jay is closest...you have to input the answer somewhere, Ill let you try and figure out where - if you look at the stuff you were doing in the binary step carefully you'll get an idea.

If you are still really stuck and give up, I can give you a more obvious hint. This bit took me aaaaaagggeeesss to figure out.

He's sorta right. Mass is the key here but not for the reason he specified.

dense/heavy rock pushes the boat deeper thus displacing more water eg: gold rock of same size as something like pumice (without the holes in it for the sake of argument) will push the boat deeper, thus when turfed into the water the reduced surface area would cause less displacement than when it was in the boat, whereas something like pumice would probably cause more displacement in the water than in the boat due to being so light

Correct, however it doesnt depend on the size of the rock so much as the density, and any rock that sinks is denser than water and thus displaces more in a boat than in the water.

i think the boat answers is the water doesn't rise nor sink... it stays the same..

the weight from the rock in the boat raises the water... then when the rock is removed from the boat, (AIR) the water goes down ... then the rock enters the water and goes into the same position from where it started...

Incorrect. That would only be true if the rock has the same mass as the water. Which it does not as rocks sink.

When the rock is supported by the boyancy of the boat, it
displaces its mass in water. When you throw it into the lake, it will
displace its own volume. If u wanna see it done grab a golf ball (one that sinks) and put it a floating container in your sink. u will see that as you drop golf ball into the water it the water level will drop because the container will rise due to less mass. it's true that once the ball is in the water it would slightly displace the water again but not as much as when it was in the container. (you probably wont even notice it) This is because when the ball is in the container it is increasing the mass which increases the gravitational force which pushes the container deeper into the water. But it's not the the ball and container u also have to take into account the empty space inside the container is also displacing the water. Ummmm well I dunno how well I explained it but yah it's pretty simple stuff. BUT WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE DANCING MASCOTS! haha! How did u guys get the password for goose.rar?
