If i was going to move to Adelaide and my office is on Greenhill Rd Wayville where would be a good place to live?

It really depends how much money you are willing to spend. Areas around and close to the city are expensive.

Anywhere around there is more than "reasonable".
Throw Parkside, Eastwood and Unley into realestate.com.au and check it out.

Seriously tho, after that incident, Salisbury has been given a major facelift . All the housing trust homes are getting demolished and the people are shipped to smithfield.
I live at Salisbury North. I built my house there and it's close to my work.
But for insidious he wants closer to the city. Insidious, I would suggest like k_space suggested, just use realestate.com.au and just search for [FONT=Verdana]surrounding [/FONT]suburbs.

Friends of mine (husband, wife, 3 kids) got a 5 bedroom place to rent in Plympton for $400 per week.
Plympton isn't all that far from Wayville and doesn't really compare with Parkside, Eastwood and Unley but is fairly nice.
Rec's suggestions are fine too.
You'd not go far wrong if you were in the vicinity of Wayville. Anywhere not too far south of the city and you're laughing.

Insid, its good to hear that theres the possibility of getting another |nAp|ster into Adelaide. Is this a serious consideration or a what if?
I lived in Clarence Park for 3 years and loved it. Big tree lined roads with hidden away reserves for the kids to play in. Close to arterial roads. A 5 minute drive to your work, hell you could walk it if your a fat bastard like me or cycle easy.
How much time do you want to spend traveling to work? Obviously the further out from the city you are the more space and room you will get for the money. $400/week is a good amount to spend and it will easily get you a 4 bed house with a decent yard no sweat in the big area I circled in red below.
Try to stick to the suburbs on either side of Goodwood road for easier travel in peak hour traffic. Having said that Adelaide is a very easy city to get around in anyway.
Target yourself to be near a reserve for the dog. Clarence Gardens has a nice big one as does Colonel Light gardens. In fact the more I look at the area the more I think one of the roads off Mitchell street in Millswood would be ideal as its very close to Greenhill Road, Major shops, the city and the very nice but expensive suburb of Hyde Park (great cafes round there) plus a huge reserve.

i have been offered a position / promotion which will be based in Adelaide, i have all but accepted just a couple of fine print type things to sort out
move is expected to be mid year

Insidious - Greenhill Road is one of the worst traffic areas in peak hour, so if you can organise to start early or late, that would help your travel time a little.
As for travel times - I live up the freeway and can be at Greenhill Road in about 40 minutes, so you will definiely find somewhere you are happy to live for the money you are looking to spend.

Anyway, I work on Wayville Rd.. Took me 40mins this morning, but that included dropping the little fella off at Reynella (5mins further south). I'd estimate I could make it in 30mins on a good day.
Aberfoyle Park is probably a bit further out that where you are looking to live though... but working on the southern fringe of the city instead of mid-CBD (Casino) knocked about 15-20 mins off my travel time.
I find Greenhill Road too busy to drive on in peak times, but there is a plethora of back roads that should get you to your destination if it is around the same area of Greenhill Rd as my work.

Insid, if you work on Greenhill Rd it will be the southern side so you should be able to work out a nice little backstreet path.

What are these back roads that you speak of Burk? I just moved into Coromandel Valley and it takes me 45 mins to get into the heart of the city via Old Belair Road. Is this the quickest way? For the record insid I choose to live up in the hills for the country feel it gives. It only takes me 20-25 outside of peak hour.

Most people measure the time it takes them to get to work by the time once they leave their front door to the time when they enter their work's front door.
To simulate this - I did the same. The neighbours were quite scared by my work uniform.
