THREE people died on Northern Territory roads overnight including a woman who was sleeping on a road and run over by a hit-and-run driver.
Witnesses told police the 35-year-old woman was asleep on Melville Bay Road, Nhulunbuy, when she was run over by what was possibly a four-wheel drive vehicle last night.
The driver failed to stop after the accident and a police patrol found her body about 11.30pm (CST).
In a separate incident, two people were killed in a single car crash on Tiger Brennan Drive, Darwin, about 1am (CST), police said.
A woman was taken to hospital following the crash.
Crash investigators were at the scene and police warned motorists that Tiger Brennan Drive between Bowman Street and Amy Johnson Drive was expected to be closed to traffic for most of the morning.
Guess the ethnicity of the woman. You have half a second. Lenko's sig need not apply.
In all honesty I reckon if someone was driving home pissed in a 4 wheel drive and not paying attention, they probably wouldn't even register they ran over a person unless they saw this information.

Which probably isn't all that uncommon given the location.

This isnt uncommon in communities like this... I lived in Nhulunbuy for 6 months... shit like this always happened...
I have seen things that would send someone crazy...
Hey you didnt have to slam on your breaks so you didnt hit 2 locals who had seem to miss place there clothes.. they decided to stop in the middle of the road and have a domestic.... (1 being male and other being female)
I have an excuse i have seen things i never wanna see again..
MY GOD!
oh and i saw stabbings and beatings and other awful things but naked people on the road fighting is the worse..
having been driving on SA roads the last couple of weeks I know why. The roads are shit and not very well marked. Also is the lobotomy optional or a requirement to get a SA drivers license.
I've spent a lot of time in Sydney/Melbourne, and their drivers are far worse, without a doubt in the world. Many more "close calls" there in a fraction of the time. And half of those were with taxi drivers pulling outlandish maneuvers. :P
Darwin has typically safe roads in comparison because there's never anyone on them.
But yes, the actual standard of road in Adelaide is terrible. Pot holes, crumbling bitchemen, poorly marked etc.
Melb/Syd driving is a nightmare. It's sort of at the point where I dread travelling during peak times.
Have to change lane? Well don't indicate your intentions until the last second because that ****'s going to speed up to cut you off. Merging traffic? Well people will take the empty lane all the way up the merge just so they can get ahead. Just about 0 respect in drivers down here.
melb traffic is fine... if you know the backroads to take during peak hour times. Only beef i have is a single lane road for beaches... once it hits school holidays families clog the shitzen out of it.

Inner melbourne = fail. eg. No point cruising down alternate south roads if the number of intersections and eastern routes just end up as the same amount of time.
