'Dogs ate my car' - Northern Territory News

That's ruff - dogs 'eat' sleeping man's car | News.com.au

Quote:

A DARWIN man woke yesterday to discover dogs had eaten his car.

And he says it's not the first time it has happened.

Clayton Dwyer, 47, of Millner, thought his girlfriend was kidding when she woke him up and told him his work ute had been gnawed by a pack of savage dogs. But when he walked outside his Beetson Place home he discovered this was no joke.

His front bumper had been ripped from the car and chewed to bits by the dogs. They had even tried to munch on the front panels.

"You can see the teeth marks," he said.

Asked what he thought when he first saw the damage, Mr Dwyer said: "Doggone it! That's a bit ruff."

The landscape gardener said the pack of wild dogs had been lurking around his neighbourhood for months.

"My girlfriend's car got eaten about three months ago," he said. "At first we thought it had been attacked with a hammer, but we took it to the panel beaters and he said it was dogs. You could see the teeth marks on it."

Mr Dwyer said his neighbours had seen the dogs early yesterday and had chased them away by throwing mangoes at them.

He said he was unsure if his insurance company covered dog attacks.

"I hope they do," he said.

"It's actually a new bumper. I only bought it a couple of months ago.

"I know it isn't the prettiest car, but it didn't deserve that."

I just don't know what to say...

we have power problems, goverment servers that get cracked, cars getting bumpers ripped off by savage dogs, kids going stoned to school, police force that is a joke and of course

every year we have experts warn us that we are gonna get hit by a cyclone and yet every year they are wrong i suppose when the day comes we will see in the news paper saying experts told you so...
(dirrrr i think everyone in darwin knows it could happen during the wet season...)

You should check my Falcon wagon out. Full of teethmarks from my retarded dogs. Ate my in-laws car once too when they bought it up from Adelaide and parked it in the shed. Did about $2000 damage.

From what we worked out, the two idiots must have chased a lizard into the engine bay and must have tried to eat their way in. They are usually pretty smart, I wouldn't have been surprised if one of them had jumped into the front seat and popped the hood. Maybe the doors were locked or something.

Civil war, famine, natural disaster, economic crisis. All relevant, all news worthy.

We have a car attacked by dogs as front page news.

Pathetic.

Obviously there were no crocodile or cane toad stories, or other snippets involving youthful blondes.

All covered by other news outlets and proved not to boost circulation.

qft...whats the point of reporting about world issues in a local newspaper, id rather read about local issues. I look back and read NT news all the time just to see whats happening back home..if it reported the same as everything else then how would I get my NT fix!!

Year 12 students pelt cops with bottles | National Breaking News | News.com.au

Quote:

TEENAGERS at riotous end of school year celebrations in Darwin have attacked police officers and their cars, pelting them with bottles.
Officers were called to a large disturbance at Vesteys Beach at Fannie Bay, in Darwin's north, about 11.30pm (CST) yesterday, NT police said.

But when they arrived, they were pelted with bottles before moving on most of the 400-strong crowd and taking three people into custody.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with assault, drug and disorderly behaviour offences.

A 17-year-old boy is to receive a summons for similar offences, while a 16-year-old boy was fined for disorderly behaviour.

Commander Senior Sergeant Virginia Read said the trio's anti-social behaviour showed no consideration for others.

"It disrupts people's enjoyment of the area at night and, considering the state of the area this morning with broken glass littering the public space, impacts upon the use of the area the following day," she said.

"Police will continue to target anti-social be
haviour and are urging those celebrating to have consideration for members of the public and to drink and act responsibly."

Good to see Darwin getting in on the act as well....

Except (almost) anything published in the NT news, I wouldn't consider Newsworthy.

A few weeks ago they had that "monster croc" on the front page with a comp for the best big croc photo, and the next day it was a shark attack that wasn't really a shark attack at all - the fisherman was hooked by the lure in the shark's mouth as it flipped around.
