I'm looking to help out a family who we are friends with - they have 9 kids, and both have hearts of gold when it comes to other people.

It's because of this that I want to give back to them - they only have one computer that is ancient, so I wanted to give them a new computer.

I have enough bits here to set them up with a fairly decent system - but I need an AGP card that is better than an ATI 9250 - the father still likes his "time-out" after the kids are in bed, and this card wouldn't cut it for games.

If anyone has one they'd like to donate (ideally), or would like to sell, please let me know before next weekend.

My wife has also suggested that we aim for 2 computers - so does anyone have spare parts lying around that they'd like to donate, so I can build them two computers (ie, an extra one on top of the one I'm already building) for Christmas. We have a fairly limited budget ourselves, but just want to "go the extra mile" for someone this Christmas beyond just ourselves.

I turn it over to you...

I just had a huge tip run and got rid of a half dozen or so working machines, but seeing it's a good cause, I think I could also let a few more odds and ends go, got a few clean cases, hard drives, RAM, CPU's, AGP Cards, might even be able to russle up speakers, webcams, ect.

i got a laptop that is blue screen of deathing me, tried to wipe it and put XP on it but i am not pro lol. its a HP pavilion entertainment laptop with a remote (that i have never used lol) and has a Intel Centrino Duo (not sure of speed), 2 gig ram and a GeForce Go 7600 in it.

A couple of problems......

1) BSODing, i cant fix it, maybe u could
2) I cannot find the power cord, so i can't charge it
3) the screen sometimes doesn't want to work

If you want it, it's your's, served me well for amateur gaming, plays COD4 reasonably well

I can drop it to you as well, just let me know where

It's not perfect, but someone may be able to fix it for the bloke who can't seem to keep it in his pants lol

Xaine,

I have a spare floppy drive, CD burner, DVD Rom, Antec PSU and Antec Lanboy case here from my old desktop, if you want any of it.

I can organise free posting through work for most parts, with Auspost express/snail mail.

Let me know what you want, the case I'd probably prefer not to send, as it's large and not on my dime, but happy to do the other items. Let me know, I'm back at work on Friday, and can send it off then

Cheers,

Cow

Thanks, Cow - I appreciate the offer. I already have those items covered between Darren and myself, so I won't be needing them.

But again, thanks.

I tend not to hoard to much junk Jabsy, although I think I have a stash of EDO memory somewhere, I'll ask a mate about who think may have a 5.25" floppy laying around, he tends to keep all that kind of gear.
