I was recently changed over from cable to the sat service. (it WILL happen to you as well)
Now even the lightest rain seems to pixalate or completely knock out the signal.
Just wanna know if anyone else is having the issue as badly as i am.

Yeh i understand about that, but what i want to know is how badly im getting it compared to others. It will be a light sprinkle and the signal will start going.
Do others have it this bad? I dont want to go up and tune it in as its not my setup (i have 1.2m solid and 2m mesh i play with - no issues in the worst of storms)

dood I was changed over last week.
my box just stops working all together and have to reset it .. (no pun)
and during rain its iffy .. however cost me nothing to have it changed, and they installed a new normal tele aerial free of charge so whatever :p

Yeh same about the aerial, have to switch to the Free to Air when it rains, but still cant help thinking maybe my dish is not getting enuf signal. Showing 62 on a clear day, to me thats a little low.

you should be having as much problem with as you are ring the 1300 number and ask for a QA tech to come check that the dish is aligned properly.
some of the contractors don't always get the best signal so it drops out more in rain.

If you have a solid dish water collecting in the dish can be an issue too. Although I don't know what austar would think of you drilling a hole in the bottom of the dish.

austar been trying to come and upgrade ours but no way man.
im happy with my cable and till they cut the service off, ill be keeping it.
they have been trying mighty hard to get us to change tho.

You have no chance, make your time - all your cable are belong to them.
Due to cost - ie rent to pawa for over head lines etc etc etc or so i have been told by a couple of contractors - no more cable!!
Quarity satellite connections are the way to go for up here. No ifs or buts.
AND get used to the 'oh noes there a cloud and my austar drops out' as that is what we will be stuck with.
When latis was up and running and i was working at Kormilda, when i got a complaint about no Google etc if there was rain clouds, or a current storm it stopped cold.
And there for the shiny shiny new tv arial for when i wont work.

when they cancel our the old service and its physically cut off, we will change.

Well our cable is underground and we still got "upgraded".
Havent seen any advantage to satellite since the change but have seen plenty of disadvantages. Shit sux.

The reason is that the council is charging them rent for using the street for carrying the cable for those underground and PAWA is charging for the use of the Poles for above ground.
It must be much cheaper if they are going to shut down the service existing and rip it up and resupply whole setbox systems.
They have also said they are getting a new sattelite soon.

i went to sat couple months back, i only have a problem in heavy rain but i have 80 % signal on a good day :)
craig my brother is doing the same thing i think his the only 1 in wanguri who hasnt changed over hahaha

Around mid last year I sat next too the CEO for Austar at a work Doo. He blatently said they were changing as the cable network costs too much to keep running.
I asked about signal drop and he didnt have an answer. We all knew it was coming.

that's awesome. so they've reduced the quality of the service by adding advertising, and now they reduce it further by swapping a fairly stable technology for a bodgy brothers effort. nice. can haz greed plz kthnx.

Yep, it'll be at your expense but I have a 1.8m at home which used to be connected to Austar and the signal rarely dropped. Even now that I'm on a 90cm dish I still keep a pretty good signal quality, so I'd be questioning your installation.
The cable feeds from a 2.4 or 3.0 dish initially hence the lower dropouts...
