Was wondering if anyone here has used a blackberry with exchange 2003(on windows server 2003) and can make a software recommendation for me.
Some of my blackberry users need access to a public calendar via the mobile link. I've heard to only way to do this is to use software to update their personal calendar with changes to the public calendar.
What software have other people used and what has been your experience with from an admin point of view?

you can get a free (for up to 15 users) version of Blackberry Enterprise Server.
It needs to be installed on a seperate 2003 server, but a VM will do fine. It will update emails, calendar, tasks and contacts like activesync on windows mobile devices.
You will need to have the blackberry phones on a business plan with a data pack and a blackberry data pack for this product to work.
Admin PoV is as easy as exchange and AD. All point and click MMC interface.

More of a hardware recommendation than software, but:
1. Put the blackberrys on a firm surface
2. Smack them with hammers
3. Buy phones with Windows Mobile.
Don't think about the cost, but sell the solution as a long term advantage.
It has the extra advantage of making management look less like wankers too.

The free version of BES is still running 4.x, which means that you are unable to view/sync any public folders/calendars on your Blackberry.
The only software that I have used to perform this task is ADD2Exchange, it's pretty costly but runs rather well if configured correctly. But as mentioned, it does this by syncing the public calender with your personal calender.
If you want to be able to view public calenders from a Blackberry device as far as I am aware the only way to do this is via BES Enterprise 5.0, which starts at $5,500 and then you need a server to host it as well.
And agreed ^^ If I had a choice in the matter, the company I work for would be using Activesync.

Go get an android based phone. As there is an application out there that supports active sink out there. You just have to find it and install. A couple of the modified roms there have it by default under work mail.
