Who has taken the Windows 7 purchase plunge?

Interested to see who's making the prompt move from XP/Vista.

I now have Windows 7 Professional legit and installed on my HTPC, laptop and desktop.

I got Ultimate on my main PC and Bot/Media Center, Laptop is still running Vista tho simply cause I haven't got round to installing it yet.

I'm running Windows7 on my Dell XPS 1730 and it craps all over vista.

Very Impressed! M$ has finally put something half descent together.

Installed ultimate 64bit on my desktop. I've had 1 blue screen caused by a bit of software running in xp sp3 compatablity mode.
Also can't get my logitec G15 software to work.
Desktop has pci-x raid card and blackmagic card in it no issues with these or using adobe CS4(mostly the video tools). Have noiced some perormance issues with mulitple instances of the same ap that I didn't have under vista. Doesn't affect all aps only a couple.

Havn't done the laptop yet expect to do so soon.

Been running it for a little while now; no complaints whatsoever.
Can't say the same about Vista :)

oh been meaning to ask - have they sorted the tarded slow file copy operations from vista in 7?

I've been running it for almost 4 months. I'm talking about who have actually bought retail/OEM.

Does paying for it as part of the MSDN count? lol

Running like a champ on all computers including Asus eee netbook and a motion computing C5 tablet. You think its an improvement over vista on a normal computer? On a tablet its that and then some!

I will be purchasing it, but probably in the new year.

Just installed my OEM Ultimate that was delivered early on Saturday night.

No driver issues sofar appart from the windows update for the onboard realtec NIC. Just rolled back the drivers and downloaded from Motherboard site.

Morge as for programs in XP SP3 compatability mode BSODing look at XP virtual PC and install programs in that. It runs quite smoothly with not much more overhead than running it nativly in Win7.

Had sound issues with mumble < due to not installing drivers for sound card.
Had my NBZ downloader having issues with file / folder permisions from previous vista / win 7 rc install. Took file ownership of all folders and files and that sorted out the issue.

UPNP works wonderful with my newly purchased PS3 with just adding the video / music folders to their respective Libarys.

I have Ultimate though MSDN as well but I'm running it x64 on my Desktop and HTPC while my girlfriend's laptop runs x86 (It's an old and pre-64bit laptop). I also run it on my desktop at work.

happily running rc1 or whatever the hell it is that i'm using. i'll probably buy it when this expires.

Have had 64bit 7 Pro from Technet Pro Sub for a few months now on my main machine and my test machine at work. Very nice OS, practically faultless for the most part.

whats the cheapest way to obtain a legal copy of pro or ultimate?

Im waiting for the academic pricing of the Os.

From Microsoft, there's far less support for XP than Win 7. And for the manufacturers/developers that don't have Win 7 specific support, I've been using Vista 64 drivers without problem.

No idea what you're talking about, tbh.

Planning on purchasing it shortly along with a 128gb ssd :)

had Vista 32 on main pc - moved that to Win7 Ultimnate RC1 64 will purchase near end of trial period.
Dell Xps 1640 lappy is Vista Ultimate 64 and will be upgrading to win7 ultimate on release. Only pc that may stay teh same is my HTPC which has Xpsp2 on it.

Probably shoplift one. The copy will be legal, but the method of obtaining wont be.

Damn it... its one of those questions you already know the answer too but wish it wasn't true.

I'll hang off on getting it then until I upgrade my PC. I will however have a play and try to get it onto my Eeepc.

The fix - Use the Vista x64 installer in compatability mode, then for whatever stupid reason, right click "Run as Administrator".

For some strange reason even after selecting compatability mode i still had to change the permissions for all users adn then run as admin. This was the most frustrating part of the whole win7 install - getting the g15 up and working.

didn't go as far as bad crispy yet but couldn't get them installed in compat mode as admin.

I could have been having a bad night when installing it but i was sure i selected vista sp1 and it wouldnt ******* work. Made sure it was ticked and then ran as admin - same 2 second result.
At the bottom of the compat tab is a button for 'change settings for all users' - exactly the same layout and everything - looks like i selected windows sp3 to get it to install. And then ran as admin and installed properly.

my g15 and setpoint works perfectly? just grabbed the latest vista x64 drivers and it was pretty straightforward. using win7 RC

Sure have! I would even suggest that it is faster than XP ;)

I'm using Vista 64 drivers for my Logitech peripherals, no issues (not G15 though, mind you).

Its definately faster than XP, windows 7 on my girlfriends 5 year old Non Hyperthreading Pentium 4 laptop performs significantly faster than windows XP ever did.
