I woke this morning at about 5ish to something out of the ordinary.
I saw a shadow standing at the end of the bed with a phone light on, for just a few minutes I thought it was one of my girls roaming in there sleep then I thought it may have been one of the step kids/boys who decided to crash for the night..But hold on what the fuck were they doing in my room.
I jumped with a bit of a start and threw my shorts on and walked down the hallway and noticed both my kids doors were opened. By the time I got to the entertainment room I saw the mobile light go on again (my fucking phone) so I switched on the fluros and fuck me dead there was an 18+ toe rag, no shirt, denim shorts and runners with my phone in his hand. He let out a 'fuckin hell' as I startled him and I am not the prettiest at that time of day. With a single jump he flew threw the open sliding window about 4 1/2 foot above with me doing the same. At 42 that's not to clever an idea. I lost him when he jumped the fence and chose not to persue any further. Moments later a late model Toyota HiAce or Mitshubishi Transit drove past at a great rate of knots. I turned and at the front door was my laptop bag with about 40 DVD's (all home pirates YOU DICK!) and the full colection of the kids WII games on the bonnet of my 4WD.
A quick inspection whilst waiting for the police to show, which I might add they were excellent. I was on the phone reporting the Home Intrusion and Burgalary when I received an incoming call from the watchhouse reconfirming the description of the vehicle. Less than 5mins later a patrol arrived.
In all thanks to me startling him all he got away with was my mobile phone (it has been diverted and ime blocked into a brick)
I honestly do not care if anything in my house was stolen as it can be replaced, but to walk into the rooms of my children...if i see this prick he is a deadman............Will be in the NT News tommorrow as it appears 6 houses were done over...
Fark Me, the Gaul of Some little pricks..

Wow man. Glad your family is alright though. That's a horrible thing to happen.

Fuck man - that's awful. Time to spend some money on heavy duty lockage and some roller shutter blinds.

the crim-safe stuff is pretty good, not cheap tho
Post 5
thing is, people who do this kinda stuff dont get punished enough.
if only they were made accountable for their actions in personally paying for and replacing everything they, broke to get in, took and did. then they might think twice about doing it again.

I agree. I'm glad nobody was hurt.

Thanks guys, was a wake up call...I refuse to lock myself in to a prison cell however I have redone all the screens he made attemps at getting into. Replaced the dodgy security screens and installed more secutrity screens at easy access areas. Wil be installing a few detterents around the place for a while as well. I doubt we will see him again but I will be better prepaired.
When speaking with the police it is rather clear that if I had gotten hold of the little prick it would most likely have been me that got into more trouble. The whole house protection and self defence rulings are way too screwed up. Hindisght tells me thank god nobody in the family was hurt and thank god I didnt catch him..

I am also glad it was only material posessions that were targeted. Those can be replaced.
Probably lucky you didn't get him as you say - I'd be in the same boat if I felt my family was threatened.
Post 16
did they manage to get away with any menhirs?
Post 17
I think the rule is that for every two times you punch the intruder, punch yourself once. Much easier to get off on self defense. :P

knock the fucker out and plant a kitchen knife in his hand

Gotta love the pic used on the web front. http://www.ntnews.com.au/images/uploadedfiles/editorial/pictures/2010/03/21/burglary_thief-break_in2.jpg

Had a chuckle on that one myself. The actual picture used with the article was your typical newspaper job. 'Now everyone make sure your looking very concerned' :)
Had a visit from the Tactical Team today asking all the same questions again, will just have to wait and see. Seven homes in the early hours of that morning and seems I am the only one that disturbed him and the only one that got minimal taken as he was sprung before he could gather the stuff(just my phone and a Dolphin torch).

lol that picture fucking wins - gives me an idea for a thread here too: maybe GU's budding photographers could do their own piss takes of the headline story :) obviously you'd want to be careful with it though, eg: pictures of pilots with photoshopped flames may not go down so well for tomorrow's headline ><

If that happens, you dont call the cops.... Cable-tie them, Chuck em in the back of the hilux, and take em for a drive out to Shady for a little "night fishing". If they happen to make it back across the Mary alive, it's a long walk back to Darwin with broken bones.

A few years back I was a full-time student at home studying when I heard a smash of glass. I walked out the front of my house but couldn't see anything. Looked over the neighbors fence and I saw an aboriginal teen climbing through their window. So I grabbed my phone and called the nightcliff police station which is a 3min walk away from my house. The police officer said I did the right thing and a unit was on the way. I waited and waited - no fuzz. So I called again and said I was happy to grab him and hold him until they arrived - they told me not to and that I may end up in trouble. So I didn't and trusted that they wouldn't be far away and would soon turn up and catch him red handed. Nothing. This fella road off on his bike and I was once again on the phone saying to the police that he's on the move and gave a detailed description of him and where he was headed and they assured me they were on the way. Didn't show.
Police didn't turn up for hours. I shit you not I went to work for a shift and when I came back they were waiting having a cuppa with my olds and wanted me to give them a run down of what happened. I lost all confidence in them that day. I explained to the neighbours what happened, I also apologised and promised that if I was ever in the same situation I'd ditch the phone and grab a bat.
