Gday all,

Just a few quick edits from the Kurri Kurri nostalgia festival that was on last weekend.

conditions were HORRIBLE for photography, backgrounds were epically bad, it was stinking hot, the sunshine was relentless and of course there was almost no shade anywhere.

Nevertheless, my brief was to wander around with some pinup promo girls and get some photos of them with the cars.

I have done very minimal editing work, I stayed in lightroom for almost all of it.

(its also the first time in ages i've shot in natural light :P)

In short, I know its faaaar from my best work, but I thought I would chuck it up anyway. maybe people can offer suggestions for better ways of dealing with poor backgrounds and super harsh sunlight?

Tip: Dont have bogan looking chicks in pics

Your photos are good but they need less "models" and more ... models.

I like a lot of your photos. Often good framing and composition, and I like your after-touching even though it's not a style I'd use - it seems to work ok.

But I have to agree with Jimmy on the models thing. I got 4 photos down, to the 2 girls in black half touching each other... what a fright I got. Jumped right out of my chair.

You elitists need to pull your craniums out of your rectums and have another look, the girls are of a different style to your standards " model " plus check out the whole scene in the picture and the creative use of the lines of the vehicles Dan is using as a whole and not just the fact that the girls aren't your usual glossy page centre pieces which I would like to see anyone here try and bed

5th and 7th photos are very 50's, love them, would buy a calendar if it was full of those sorts of pics.

The readhead is fine, from what we can see here :)

Prefer to see the cars

To be honest man I'd just avoid shooting in the middle of the day like the plague. Early morning or evening. It's just impossible otherwise. Too bright highlights and too deep shadows in the middle of the day.

Well done though.

I thought the girls were interesting to look at to be honest. Good stuff. :)

I still think the shots and subjects are fine, havent seen anyone else post thier better work (apart from Kag a long time back).

I liked it; I'm quite fond of older cars.
The girls look like they had a bit of fun with it, people can go buy a fashion magazine if they want illusions of perfection in people.

Why buy a magazine? Aegis has posted plenty of my photos up here for free.
