Hi People.

I have currently a 1.2 gig athlon with a Nvidia 64 meg agp card fitted. I have downloaded the new XP driver for this card.

The problem is when I get into the game it freezes and locks the machine up. I cant get out unless I reboot.

It staes the error is an unstable device or driver.

I have installed another driver and also changed the vid card to a nvidia 32 meg. Same problem occurs.

At present I am unable to play CS.

All the hardware checks come up with no conflicts or problems detected.

If someone is able to get this running for me I will supply a bottle of bourbon.

I am at my wits end.

HELP!!!!

Sponge,

try the win2000 drivers for the nvidia chipset - Kagetsu has a copy someplace, and I might too - ill have a look after work today. I've never had a problem with openGL in CS after installing them. It might also pay to check the irq's for the card, see if anything else is sharing an interrupt or something silly.

From memory Sponge i think i may have told you these before ??? Either way there is alcohol on the line....

1. Remove your current detenator drivers from the system and install standard vga drivers. You can get a program called Detenator destoyer that will help you remove all nvidia crap.
2. Install nVidia Detanator 21.81 drivers as they are more CS stable than 21.83/85 etc etc.
3. Jump in and check CS and check refresh rate and fps. If need be run nvidia refreshrate fix to increase refresh rate from 60hz up to your desired level.
4. Also cant remember where it is but look for the nvidia helper, it is in one of your start up or configs..etc etc well disable it .
Wam Bam you should be back at work
By the way another little trick is Half Like really likes it if you re-install it when putting a new graphics card.....

Soz dude, cant work it out from the info you got..XP runs sweet for me constant 99fps sweet 100mhz refresh rate. You didnt say if you have tried a fresh install of CS. i know it's a pain but often that does work because somewhere along the line Half Life gets screwed over when you change cards or drivers.....i remember reading on CS forums once that every time this guys upgrade his nvidia drivers he had to reinstall CS due to incompatability...Don;t know the reason but hopes it gives you more ideas...
