I actually installed my modem correctly i think. I mean damn windows 2000 prof detects it.

Just wont connect to the net. Either says no dial tone or no answer.

Any ideas?

I have had Robbie checkin it out and he ran away in frustration. Can't use windows prof at all ^^

Try Unticking "Wait for dialtone before Dialing"
Sometimes does the trick [Blocked image]
What error does the modem give you when it fails to connect?

Post 3

yea I did that dial tone thing

it says error 603 i think failed to find a dial tone

make sure connected to phone line etc etc

Post 4

Error 603 The caller Buffer is too small. Restart yourcomputer....

Internal or external Modem?
If internal try moving it to a different PCI slot. Also double check that its plugged in n stuff.

Hey while im here ask your sister if shes gonna come to the vic with us on Friday night my mobile phone is broken and I dont have her number anymore.
Tell her it's cause Bradley finished his exams

Post 7

what brand of modem is it? might be able to use an init string to fake it into ignoring the dialtone - WinLT and some conexant/rockwell modems were known for that..

Post 8

Sounds similar to a small problem I once had... Install the original driver that cam on the installation disk for Windows 2K, or if not available, the Windows NT version. ^_^

Post 9

This may sound dumb, but I have the prob occasionally.. Wiggle the phone line connection.. Some RJ plugs click in, but the pins dont line up..

Post 10

Thanks for all your help but...somehow i fixed it myself.

I cracked the shits at the whole thing (/me not on internet = very insane girl)
So I went into all the advanced modem connections and well changed everything. Even though I didnt understand any of it.
