I am having probs getting my monitor to go above the 85hz range.
Set the monitor to 120hz and even 100hz then when I went to play CS dropped to 60hz, did the fps_max and even tried max_fps to be special and still nothing.
Unseen, first off make sure you are using the Auriga driver not just the Windows Xp Plug and play. The Win Xp one by default sticks you at no more than 85hz max.. Secondly what video drivers are you running ??? I would recommend 28.35 as they have refresh rate fix built in as the original proggy ceased to work from driver 23.40.. When you install new driver and then run refresh rate check the update button and away you go.
Nothing is wrong with the 28.80 they run better than the 28.35 and they can use the nvidia refresh fix also.
Also it isnt true about XP not lettig things over 85hz as the plug and play one was better then the manufactures ones as it automatically let me go 75hz on 1600x1200 full 32bit colour and all.
Also higher scores on 3dmark2001SE if its what you want on the 28.80. Ive tested it and they work awesome.
Unseen as crazy said, make sure you are using the actual auriga drivers for the moniter as thats the only way we could get eater to run his. Keith the xp drivers will not allow this and that little box you unticked is there so that you dont damage your moniter so I do not reccomend unticking it (is that a word???)
Det drivers, so far the 23.11 have produced the highest scores for benchmarking but unless you benchmark dont worry about it, no matter what drivers you use your refresh rate of moniter should not really change, but if you do use old drivers just run the normal refresh rate fix, it works fine, any other questions, i'll check it out next LAN
1 question for you!
On eaters moniter only upon close inspection (he couldn't see it with his beer goggles on) I noticed the whole screen started to vibrate the picture around the edges, wondered if yours did the same thing, it was not constant, it only happened for about 10 seconds at random intervals
Clearly everyone has different opinons about drivers. [Blocked image]
Reaps, Tell eater to try and move an sources of magnetic frields.. That could be the cause. If not try the manual u may have to adjust something.
EDIT: One more thing Kurt, Go into windows display and run ure desktop that u r planning the run in colour you wont and see what refresh rates u get.. (keep the tab that tells u that it is safe for your monitor).. Are you sure u have re-run the program properly ? (Ensure that u set it to maximum 100hz rather than monitors max refresh if ure monitor can go over 100 in that selected res.)

Raker you have missed the point The Auriga Monitor ( That they are talking about ) if set as a plug and play in Xp will only give a maximum refresh rate of 85. You need the actual refresh rate. As for 28.80 i cannot comment as i havnt tried them. The 28.35 were the best stable drivers with the fix at the time i was looking
keep in mind that what Half Life will tell you is the number of frames per second its displaying - this is in no way equal to the refresh rate of your monitor. You could be getting 20 frames per second and the monitor may still be refreshing at 85Hz. If your monitor is set to display at 85Hz then it will be in CS, you just have to figure out why your number of frames per second keep dropping under load. This could be due to lack of memory, processor lagging under load, you might need to defrag your HDD etc etc etc.
if the processor has to wait for data to be extracted from the tangle of your un-defragged HDD, you'll experience a serious decrease in performance - allow me to illustrate:
1. Thire es nw oay twils hil sanks mee
2. There is no way this will make sense
Both contain the same letters, both are meant to say the same thing, which one is easier (and faster) to read?

quote:
Originally posted by ZeReaper: eater, that usb port is for display, you run a usb hub and output one screen onto however many moniters you want, ie your one through that usb port

Er no the port on the back of the monitor is a terminating type point
And the manual makes no mention of using this usb port as a display input
Forget about the crappy XP driver, just use Plug'n'Play monitor, and disable "Use DDC". Then download either the ATI or nVidia Refresh fix for XP, and this will allow you to set your refresh to anything you want (or if you cant do this, run "dxdiag" and use the overide feature on the troubleshooting tab.
