Has anybody bought off mwave.com.au with bad tales to tell?
Just looking at a video card to buy off them that is cheaper than anywhere else.

Yeah i have ordered from them before. If you search them up, you may find something regarding a warranty incident last year by the ACCC, but they fixed it. Have a look at static ice for cheap price search for products.

the msy website has been apgraded so it soesnt hurt my eyes, im not sure if they freight any more tho

Actually funny thing is PC Case Gear is the Cheapest!
Looks like I will be buying off them again :)

only problem I've had with mwave is that every single order i've made, something has gone on backorder and/or discontinued. Their stock levels are all lies.

PCCG are good by all accounts. A friend ordered an external HDD at 2pm it arrived in adelaide at my office at 11am the following day.

The only problem with PCCG is postage on smaller items. You could buy a $2 cable and they'd slug you "2 odd for postage...

Most people don't live in Darwin dude. In fact 90% of Australia's population can walk into a store and get a HDMI for under "0.
I do understand the context though given that a majority of posters here actually live in Darwin. :P

Postage charges is one of a couple reasons I rarely shop at PCCG. The other is that they're almost never the cheapest.

Still PCCG they have good range, service and stock levels that dont lie (Mwave have backordered my last two purchases, also only use AAE from them if going to post box, as they dont deliver to them with other couriers offered, not that you will find that tidbit on the website)

It's nice have to a reliable store that you're always comfortable using, but personally I always do my shopping at staticice.com - and then only order from stores that have stock level indicators and a contact telephone. And I virtually never run into dramas of any kind.
Store allegiance doesn't make much sense to me, not when the price difference can be so substantial from product to product. I just bought a colour laser printer from Megabuy, for $280, delivered 2 days after order. Umart, who I'll order through as often as financially viable, has the same unit for $330.
While I would have loved to buy yet another item from them due to convenience, I'd rather spend that money on beer.

And for those reasons rec, i unfortunately don't buy local most of the time.
I mean, I am a reasonable person. If I can walk into a shop in Darwin and get what I want immediately, and the convenience costing me a few dollars more; I will buy local. If the difference is substantial (as it almost always is, even after postage) I simply refuse.

The resellers in Darwin simply can't compete with interstate and web-based suppliers. There's only the one wholesaler locally, and they buy from other wholesalers anyway (synnex, ingram micro etc) so they get pretty much the same price as the businesses can, then they add their markup.
The interstaters are in the same state as the wholesalers so freight is cheaper and much faster. Their walk-in market is substantially bigger, so their turnover is higher, and their margin is subsequently lower. Those without walk-ins can be cheaper again, as they dont have the overheads of the retailers.
It's a vicious circle. Too many of the locals rely on high margins to stay afloat, because offering competing prices means they'll eventually go out of business.

Spiritwalker thats the same card i got about a month ago from the same place. For the price it does more than I had expected so thats great, plus it can be overclocked further - though I havnt had the need yet. Let me know what you think of it when you receive it.
