Some nice guys Ive met since I've been down here are about to launch an ISP for gamers - check it out here : http://www.ozforces.com/ You will probably know the forums they run well :)
Check out the prices - nice :) ( http://www.ozforces.com./pnews.php?page=access_prices )
Quote: OzForces Internet will be one of the first providers in Australia to offer the attractively priced ISDN DOV product, with 128k connectivity for the price of a dialup with unlimited data.
Quote from CyBeRsWiNe: Are those prices the same for the Dial-Up & ISDN?
I wonder if the ISDN would be available to me where I am just out of Katherine. (Tindal)
I know ADSL isnt due to Tel$cum putting in PairGain to save money... :(
later..
Those prices are for Dial-up and ISDN. So it costs you the same no matter how you are connecting. The only difference in price is your call charges if you are using 128K and your monthly line rental.
ISDN is also more widespread than ADSL. I don't know if it available in Katherine, but you could call telstra and ask them. It probably would be.
paladin - thats the cost of normal ISDN Data call yes. DOV (Data over Voice) is actually a voice call when initiated, thus the telstra exchange flags it as such - BUT, once it reaches the other end, they change to DATA (as its still over an ISDN line). And bingo, you have ISDN for the cost of a local untimed call.
I used to have local calls that lasted a month and a half at octa4. Its really a good idea.
Check this page - its from the guys in Melbourne that sell the DOV capable ISDN modems.
lucky for this, because i had to change an ISP by tonight (or tomorrow). and i was told my current choice of new ISP was crap. i like the idea or no download limit and 6-10 hour sessions, and the choice of going to ISDN when i want. ill join up when it starts up.
ok i put that wrong can i now tell telstra to stick it then disconnect ADSL then get on this and get OD type pings on octa4 for less money then i pay now??
