I have become more interested in a PowerLeap Tualatin converter after seeing what Martoks Slot 1 Abit BX mobo could do with a Tualatin Celeron 1.2GHz. I have basically the same mobo except its Socket 370 and it has ATA100 and Raid onboard (Martoks using my ATA100 controller card).
But there was one thing I wanted to know before I decide to get one, does it overclock? I e-mailed PowerLeap and they replied, Our new version (PL-370/T) will allow for voltage selection and thus make overclocking stable.
My Abit BX133-R mobo with BX chipset is capable of doing 200MHz fsb, but I was only ever able to get it to 160MHz with my Coppermine 1GHz and Kingmax PC150 ram. A 1.4GHz would be nice @ 1680 (10.5*160) or higher. I have heard ppl overclocking 1.266GHz to 2.0GHz and they say the performance in F@#%ing high. I have seen benchmarks and the Tualatins seem to be more AthlonXP like than Coppermine. About the same performance (Athlons with DDRram and P3 with SDram) except floating point is slightly slower. A P4 1.8 (RDram) is around equal to a P3 1.2 (SDram) so a P3 1.4 overclocked would be equal to?
The price of a Celeron 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4GHz is quite good except the P3 1.26 or 1.4GHz (512L2 Cache) are expensive. But I would like to see my old friend Abit BX mobo returned to its glory days. Decisions decisions :?
