MD Players/Recorders and Memory Sticks

Hi there guys,

Im in Japan for the next 6months or so, and if anyones interested in cheap (compared to Australia) MD Players/Recorders, Memory Sticks or whatever email me at [email]shijei_@hotmail.com[/email] The only problem is that youll have to give me the money in advance (koz i cant afford it without that) and ill send it back over to you. The whole power and different power plug issue youll have to deal with yourself also, but some have 240v built in anyway. Example of the prices. I can get you a 128meg Mem Stick for 200bucks brand new when theyre 300here. And the new MZ-N1 which is about 900bucks in Australia for about 700. But as I said, youll have to pay first (if you dont trust me, then fine, but I am friend with Seqo_ae and Neo and ya can ask them if im trustworthy or not) and youll also have to figure out the language and power issues yourself.

Does that mean if we give you the $ you hold on to it for six months till you get back and bring the stuff or do you mail the stuff from Nippon?

MZ-N1 is damn fine, and u can get it from www.minidisc.com.au for $750. 50 more but u can rely that its an australian release complying with our power, warranties, language etc

only problem i have found is that noone can possibly match the prices of certain products, granted there a few that are available for cheaper in australia, but here is one example:

Sony Net MD - isn't available here except for special order, special order price "075.

Japan sell these for 37000 yen, ie $552 at 67 yen per $.

(disclaimer, need to order the recording software over here as it is unsupported in Australia, extra cost: $30. also power and other adapters come at an extra cost of approximately $25 - 60)

however, even with all the modification needed it comes in at almost $500 less...something that i highly doubt retailers in australia, let alone darwin, would consider matching...

if you are matching these prices though, then give me a call :D :P

Doesnt matter where you go in the world computer prices will be the same but the cheapest place in the world at the moment is malaysia

I am not quite sure but your facts seem a little skewed as we have been been selling net md players for the past four months and the top of the line mzn1 is Sony mrp $899 and the software MgJukebox is fully supported and it comes with all the power options for Australia included, and we also have 3 different models in stock which at full rrp start from $569.
Also the "let alone in Darwin" comment is pretty invalid as all stock is sent freight free into the store's so freight cost's dont come into it and there are at least 12 retail stores in darwin that sell electrical and that doesn't include Target, Big W etc so prices are pretty competitive up here.
If I misinterpreted your post please let me know as I am not having a go just stating some facts as I do run an electrical store and have been in the game for about 15yrs, so I do have a reasonable base of experience to draw from and I love technology so I do my best to keep up.
BTW the Sony rep who was here today was also slightly confused by your post as he has been running around for the last couple of months doing training with a NetMd player he purchased from me :) namely a MZN1

well i stand corrected.

however i was quoted a price less than two weeks ago from a sony representative over the phone that the price was "075 for the MZ-N1.

the comment about the "let alone darwin" was regarding the matching of prices from overseas. the companies i have dealt with in regards to electronics, computers and other goods in darwin (for the past four years mainly) refuse to match prices from down south, and would rarely, if ever match a price from overseas. especially when that would mean dropping their retail price $200 to $500.

so yes like i said, i stand corrected.

btw: you are selling them for $899? would you consider matching the price of around $550 to $600...?

I doubt you will find a cheaper price in Australia than $750 and I doubt any company would like selling something at a loss as funny things start to happen like doors closing and ppl looking for a new job, but if you are willing to buy one from overseas with no warranty whatsoever unless you send it back there then go ahead I wish you luck as any warranty work on md players must now be sent to Sony themselves in Sydney for repair and I doubt you would be able to pull one over them.
The $899 is Sony's recomended price not what we sell it for I wish we could get that much *sigh*.
