Some people may have seen some the my avi's i dloaded of this remote controlled chopper. Most that did saw it said it was smoke and mirrors. Well here is their site to download the vidios, i recomend dloading the aggresive manuvers first as they are the most impressive.
WTF???????????? i think everyone should see what this thing is doing its unreal its doing all sorts of accrobats and the prop is spinning at like -5km/pr its amazing what its doing though
yeha i never though of that it seams like that is happening its pritty good it would be good in the military for looking at buildings and shit where it would be too dangeros to send a person
Thats whats its for. Also to replace the huge penut unmanned spychopers. U could also attach a small gun and send it on assassination missions
i was reading all the the tech info and stuff for the chopper.....
the blades dont just lock and become wings.... they create lift if they are upsidedown or backwards aswell..... and when the props are spinning they lock into the same shape as regualr helicopters :P.... Its why it dosnt need to spin its props that fast..... its acting more as a glider then a helicopter....
Think of a prop being filmed like U watching a cars magwheel spin as U look @ it driving alongside the car U are in. Sometimes the wheel looks like it is rotating backwards doesnt it ?.
Because the actual film only runs @ a certain amount of frames per second.. it is grabbing snapshots of time, and if that time grab is in sync to the props being in the same position, it would look , as it does, like they are not turning..
But if the props didnt turn constantly.. It would fall damn fast as a Helicopter aint the ideal picture of aerodynamics, is it ?
these arnt ordinary props. They go both ways - upside down + they are really thick for props. ne way i better read up on tech data its been a while since i last looked at it. :) i just dug it up cause someone wanted to see it :)
ok dude, I don't want to burst your bubble, but what your describing is impossible - the aerodynamics of a helecopter blade are such that if they were forcing air in both directions, nothing would happen, no lift, nothing.
The only helecopter in the world that is capable of flying inverted is the Apache helecopter gunship, and thats purely a product of velocity. you stay upside down for too long, you get sucked into the ground.
The props stop for only a litle while to sort of coast. They have experimented with adding a forward thrust but that hasnt been going well. Once it gets enough forward thrust it can then stop its wings for longer. The chopper also uses a new transmition :) thats soon to be released in cars in about 3-5 yrs. Imagine two cones and a ball in between. When u move the ball relative to the cones the gear ratio also changes :)
Ive seen and read more then whats on the site coutasy of a friend at MIT. It is possible and it has been done.
So whats the addresss of the site that tells you that the rotors do what you say they do?
Ive read quite a few of the links on their site and all ive got from them is that they are trying to perfect robotically controlled flying maneuvers to prove that they can use it to perform many roles in military applications and other non-military applications.
Nothing about the rotors locking to form wings or whatever your talking about
