Hello all, newbie in town (gaming that is, been here ova 20 yrs :cry: ) Im joinin in anticipation of aquiring my first "new" pc of my own since the vic20 (if any of you older ones remember them) cant remember all specs but important ones like Gf4 ti4400, amd1800+, 17"flat, gigabyte motherboard, network card. i am having it built by my brother and i am goin to get him to put duel boot on it win98se and xp. mainly coz 2 or 3 of my mates still use 98 and networkin is much easier on identical OS, also from what ive heard its still the most stable gaming platform til they get all bugz outta xp.. is this wise? does anyone else out there use duel boot?

I'd have to say that WinXP is more stable than Win98, by far. Being based on the NT kernel, it's much harder to crash than Win98, and it suffers from much less memory leakage and registry problems than Win98.
Personal preference dude - I still use Win98SE cos XP just looks gay :P (yeah i know you can change it but....)
_BUT_ i am planning on changing to XP when some/most of the "undocumented features" have been solved

*cracks up* Well, Win ME is pretty much a dressed up Win98, so I wouldn't go cheering on its stability :)
As for 3dfx.... 3dfx ROCKS, but they're out of business with the Nvidia takeover and all, and well, nvidia are being bastards and not supporting any 3dfx stuff any more. So most of us are forced to move on :(

Sif move on, im still using mine at least until the Radeon 9700 is out, and even then i wont be rushing to get one :)
Oh and personally Win 2000 owns all MS based OS's :) with only one exception........DOS :)
I know one person who has dual boot DOS and Win 2k :)
I have to agree with Martok. Win 2000 is the one thing Microshaft have nevr done well until now, release a sequel that is actually better than the original before numerous re-releases. It builds on the stable NT Kernel and just plain rocks !!!
thank u all for the warm greeting. :D counterstrike.... hmmmm im pretty sure thats the game i played @ eater_of_souls place a while back (a year or two) ..... got fragged a few times.... never made a lasting impression on me.. sorry :wink: lately i been playin a bit of q3 and various mods most notably urban terror. i actually like a bit of a variety of games. from sports to sims to rpgs. my favourite game atm is Neverwinter Nights.(DnD fan from waybakwen) again thanks for the warm welcome many happy frags to you all
