actually, if you have to ask that question, don't bother with it, you won't get anything out of it.

I am an un-educated windows user who is looking to broaden my understanding of software, prorgamming, and everything.
I asked the question to see what I'd be able to to with the 1.5 gigs of ISO's I'm donloading at the moment.

don't worry, i am an arrogant prick ;). i just don't really understand the philosophy of 'pick up a new tool then try and think of something to do with it', i'm more of a 'think of something to do, then find the right tool to do it with' type thinker i guess.
I originally installed linux because it came with a free C compiler. that was my entire reason for it.

Just as well you didn't discover DJGPP or LCC first, then - otherwise you'd never have tried Linux :)

It's useful to try stuff out and see what it can do. Experimenting with a tool will give you a good understanding of its capabilities and limitations.

Aravi Psyk, tahts what I aim to do...
Installed it today, installed fine... had a look at it and the inetnert connection thing that detects your lan cards froze a couple of times so I booted windows up.
Its got potential though,
Edit - It will also be interesting working with PHP and perl in the enviroment it was made for.
