Battlefield 1942 Server @ Octa4

Fitst of all, this is a legendary game. :lol:

Secondly, when is there going to be a battlefield 1942 server running along with tribes 2.

I think at the next DGA, Battlefield will far outstrip any of the other games that will be played. :P

So what does everyone think about the game anyways? :?:

What about a request to DGA meph?? borrow voyager?? to host a bf42 server

How about everyone realises that Meph cant just create a machine or create a HUGE bill to octa for a server..

Game servers cost thousands $$$$$ to run in bandwidth costs.

If we as a community happily all put in and GIVE octa4 a $grand$ a week for the bandwidth, Im sure they wont mind..

Game servers are a thorn in a ISPs side..

Be damn happy with what U get for NOTHING.

Its not a matter of just givving octa a machine, ffs I have offered complete machines before. I have offered fuly built 1Gig+ boxes.

Its not that easy. Octa knows how much money vaporises when a server is put online.

The bandwidth we all use in traffic being connected to the server octa writes off..

But they can only write off so much..

Now how many times does this have to be stated till it sinks in ?

As sly said, if you want to put up the cash for it then sure.....im sure theres other things to take into account though.

I think I was rather blunt in my previous post. I didnt mean it to offend..

I did start a thread for people to suggest options.

Mine was that we become members, pay for eg "0 a month to play on a local BF1942 server. Dunno if this would be viable or not tho?

Knowing the bandwidth requirements of this game, we can't just expect isp's to host this for nothin.

Frenzy: If you could organise this dude, I'm sure that it'd be possible to sweet talk management. Problem is, we would have to find a way to restrict access to paying customers only, which they would insist on, and they'd probably also lump the other hosted servers under the same deal..

Yeah and i'm sure once the revenue flowed, the other servers would be under the same deal, so it may ruin the CS\Tribes2 servers for some ppl. (again i'd be willing to pay for a local CS server if i HAD to).
