ok i have nero and the corrct cd rom installed to use it (came as a package deal) anyhow under XP it give me this

"Under Windows2000/NT4 burn rights are required by Nero to access CD recorders and cd-rom/dvd-rom drives.
Please ask you system administrator for permission to use nero"

no i just click ok but all nero will let me do is creat images and then save them and when i try to burn that it just makes another image (and exact copy)

I am my own administrator on this system adn i can't find anywhere to give MY SELF the permission to use the burner

What OS are you using? Windows 2000 or Windows NT4?

Log in as the "Administrator" user. Use the password you would have assigned when installing the OS. Then, go to User Manager, and give your usual username additional rights - in particular, the burn right to the CD recorder.

Or just use the burner when logged in as the "Administrator" user.

nah i run XP and i am the admin and i always log in as myself (coz it my comp) and there arn't actually any permissions related that arn't turned on allready (from logging in as the admin)

so i though i would give it a mis (borrowing aravi's burner) and go back to my cd-rom AND NOW!!!!! my rom doesn't open cd

eg: start run g: (my cdrom) AND NOITHING
right click explore g: NOTHING
g: double click nothing

and i knows the cd is in there (because named cd's come up

eg: G: cd-rom (becomes) g: ali G

BUT I CAN"T FING OPEN THEM AT ALL PLZ HELP ARAVIS SHIT BURNER ROOTED MY MACHINE NEED HELP (in both ways and so does Aravi) BUT MOST OF ALL Y THE F WONT IT OPEN CD!!!!!>?!?!?!?!?!?!

Burner works fine in my Comp.... must be the OS/Hardware.

Ok, so you are logged in as yourself on Windows XP. Professional, I assume?

Go to User Accounts (click on your picture in the Start Menu, then click Cancel). If your username has "Computer administrator" written underneath it, you're the admin. If not, then you need to log in as the person who does have admin. Anyway, let's presume that's all ok.

Go to Device Manager, (right click on My Computer, click Properties, click Hardware, click Device Manager). Open up the DVD/CD-ROM Drives tree. Find your CD-ROM. Uninstall it.

Reboot. Windows should refind your hardware and install the CD-ROM again. This should correct any weirdness with drivers.

get a dry fire extinguisher :P

u might have a conflict with the burning service that comes with XP
to disable go into your services and disable IMAPI CD-burning com service
this might help

also in winXP *NEVER* install DirectCD - XP has its own version of it built in and it will do all sorts of wierd and wonderful things.
