usually by linking to a free web based guest book host - you could do it locally, but he would need some sort of server side scripting to handle it.

Yeah I needed one for my site and spent a bit of time cruising the web before I found something that worked well. If you want something that is not dreadfully slow (usually the free hosted ones) try the following link.

Its free and has very easy instructions in the readme for setting it up. If your ISP does not allow perl scripts then you will have to use the hosted guest book sites. Ones suggested above are as good as any.
