Am bringing my AP if anyone wants to play... haha

am bringing my nice new netgear access point to the lan for ppl who want to give wireless a go (if you got wireless cards), and for ppl with laptops etc etc. just as a curiosity thing. i gotta learn how to set the bastard up properly yet.

i bought my cradle from flak and he chuckd his card in it and we tested it and get a perfect signal 11mbs with no antenna
it was only over liek 3 meters but still it worked for me
and i know my cradle works too :wink:

was anyone else using rain's wireless setup?
cause i had a small chat to him and he said something is defiently happening cause his lightwas flashing

I had a signal from the AP. My signal strength kept going up and down though. The AP wasn't up constantly though? Cos the little networked computers icon showed up with a cross on it a couple of times. Was the AP joined to the ethernet network? Cos my wlan card seemed to be used when i leeched or was being leeched...

oi what speeds did u get over the network?
did u have a office wireless card of one that needs a antenna and shit?

It said I was connected at 11Mbps. I have no way of testing the transfer rate over the wireless. I have a Dlink DWL 520+ with a detachable antenna. The card is supposed to support up to 22Mbps. What program to use to test the transfer rate?

I use the built in ethernet on my mobo and it seems to have trouble running at 100Mbps so I force it to use 10Mbps. So technically the wireless was connected faster for me. The network utilization for the wireless in the task manager i remember was really low though (compared to 99% for the ethernet when I was being leeched).

The idea of wireless is pretty good though although it lags behind ethernet in speed. In the future the only cables we use would be connecting our monitors and computers to electricity and to each other (unless they have wireless monitor connections, and wireless keyboards and mice are available although wireless mice aren't ideal for gaming yet).

you know hard drive space is limited i had a case of dvd rips that i havent leeched from a lan myself but downloaded personally but nobody asked for them :(

next time im gonna copy em onto my comp i guess. anti social gamers are to damn shy
