any suggestiongs?
Uh oh.... You didn't use a normal vacuum cleaner or dustbuster, did you? Those things generate static electricity like a Van De Graaf generator...
Ok, first things first. Does the power supply activate (ie, can you hear a fan kick in)? Is the rocker switch on the back of the power supply set?
Do NOT turn the computer on until you check very, very thoroughly, to see if there's a fragment of metal inside your case you may have inadvertently blown onto some of the tracks.
If the power supply is ok, try turning it on, and see if you hear any response AT ALL. If you DO hear a response but it won't boot up, you may have a problem with a card. Pull all the peripherals, cards, hard drives, EVERYTHING out, and try and power it up. It should beep 3 times. If it doesn't, check your speaker connection . If the speaker is fine, then the only subsystems left must be the motherboard, RAM, cpu, or power supply. Or the power switch itself.
If it DOES beep 3 times, put the cards and peripherals back in one at a time until it fails again. Don't forget to REALLY thoroughly check out the sockets and the cards themselves for fragments of metal or dust. You will then be able to diagnose which card is faulty.
I've heard that some switch mode power supplies die when you blow the dust out of them - something to do with the sudden shift in resistance and/or capacitance when you remove the crud. Check it with another PSU if you have one spare, cause its been known to happen.
Ok well it has been stripped down to bare minimum and it works .. so it is just the steps on putting things in 1 by 1 to see that it all still works :)
Thanks goes to Darkwolf as he helped and suggested this .. also cant forget tn1 for telling me to take it to his place :)
cheers guys
gotta take photos of it all too, for something to do I guess :)
