so here goes
his mission was to install a 80mm case fan into a pannel
so we bought the fan from fits thanks guys and got out handy man around (not giving the name of himc ause he is sorry and he wants to keep it quiet)
there is the pannel

he informes me that timmy was the one that marked out where the hole was goign to go
so it aint the handymans fault he just drilled the hole :P
time to fix and as there wsa no sticky tape i foufn a maccas belt it will do the trick
[Image: http://pub.radium5.com/~knight/mod/9.jpg]

Well me and Knight had a good laugh over ICQ about it :D
Timmy - Im just LAUGHING!
Handyman - I know who you are but I so hope you had a good LAUGH! :D But don't feel bad about it, you just had to cut the hole
Although Timmy when you read this, now that you cant really put the side panel on your case anymore, it would be an idea (if your up to it) to make a full perspex side panel. It can be easily done and is very cheap.
Just go to a glass shop or a plastic shop (I know theres a place in Berrinah that specializes in perspex) go to them, give them the dimensions of the side panel and get them to make you panel.
You then have to find a way to make it go on the case (you know the little tabs on the panel that lock the panel and the case together?) You could make some up exactly like that and glue them to the perspex. You could also screw it onto the case, but that would require you to unscrew it when you want to take the panel off.
It would look great, you can also add a fan to it (IN THE RIGHT SPOT) and do some funky stuff with lights etc.
OR
You can take that panel, cut a nice BIG square/rectangle out of it, then place a perspex panel behind the panel and bolt the perspex to the panel with some nice chrome bolts/screws. (Exactly how the Lian Li windows look). And then you can redo the fan in the perspex.
Im happy to do it for you if your interested.

well fuck ey
fear not there is a twist to this story. next instalment is later tonight or tomorrow
Post 10
dam so that means i gotta get up go to u'r house in the fucking rain?
Post 11
All you would have to do is switch the panels over so the fan is on the other side at the bottom
Post 12
OK DONE
i have done a write up about todays work
check it out, www.timmyshome.cjb.net
let me knwo waht ya think
Post 13
Very amusing .... and well done ...
Even funnier that its real !!!
One tip - check ya spelling
Post 14
Ha ha ...
That's why when I install fans I strap it to the side with tape first and see if it'll still attach to the case.
Post 15
hehe :P
On another note - should have put masking tape over the pannel so you didn't scratch it as much as can be seen in those photos :)
Post 16
nah they no scratchs, just dirt from the jigsaw
cleaned off like new :)
just ganna write up the second part to the series
and also...next im thinking about putting in a window
Post 17
Ah god help me there :?
While a window is easy to install, it is harder than a fan hole, in terms of getting placement right.
All I can say is, take your time in lining it up first!
Post 18
thanks for the advice ;)
Post 19
LoL you got that handdy man to do it LoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoLLoL

Post 25
alls i can say is that it happens...
i learned from my mod i put two 120mm fan holes too close to the lid hinge...
so i covered it by putting in a window...
but hey it happens
Post 26
like shit i lie, u marked it out.
Other than that it was a great hole. :D
It would have been great to c your face ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Post 27

but not to worry, oi get back to me on when we ganan do the windows? k?
do yours first....then mine :D
Post 28
hey timmy you mentioned on your site you thinking about a fan on top for exhaust.
is that fan on the side going in or out?
if its going in then wouldnt all the air that it sends in go straight out the exhaust?
just a thought, although you would have on mighty cool cdrom.
:?
Post 29
the "Handyman" is that PK ?
Post 30
correct tn1, dont even let him know when ya doin a case mod, he'll have and idea and stuff it :P
and dazza
yeah the fan i got now is goin in. but hmmm, yeha i might make the one of top blow in as well. i have noticed that the fan i have now is nto cooling anything :) but it looks kinda cool, and it'll loook good when i get the window in :D
i might put a 120mm on top
