As the title states, a mate of mine is looking to but a Socket 370 Processor. He's not fussed if it's a celeron or pentium.
Anyone out there got one they'd be wishing to part with?

Pentium 100 - it'd be Socket 7
P2/P3s came in Socket 370, but the P3s were FCPGA and were incompatible with the P2s.

ppga is not compaitable with fcpga either. so u need an fcpga board to go with an fcpga cpu. and vice versa
remember there was 2 types (and i think 3 nowadays) of the celerons. the old ones , the fcpga and the new thingy ones (dont know what it is, intel am ghey who cares :P)

Yeah theres 2 FCPGA's, theres the ok one FC-PGA and the really good one FC-PGA2 (has B-Stepping for the tualatins).

The Tualatin Celeron and Pentium III and Pentium III-S are FCPAG2.
If you are a tight arse you can run a FCPGA2 processor in a FCPGA mobo by insulating three pins and connecting two others :idea:

1. Any CPU Pre Celeron and PII were Socket 7
2. then there was SLOT 1, it took PII - any, PIII - 450 to 700 and celeron - 300A - 400
3. SLOT 1 also took a riser card that turned it into a SOCKET 370
4. There also was SLOT A for AMD cpu's. Not real sure of speeds something like 600 to 950..
5. Socket 370 was next taking celeron black chip 366 - 533 hten green celeron 566 to 933 also took green PIII 600 - 1000
6. then there was tualatin (spelling?) still socket 370 but some mb took old 370 and new tualatin and some didn't (you would have to check the manual for this information) there were celeron 1000 - 1300 tualatin and PIII 1000 - 1300 (I think)
7. SOCKET A is for AMD (onwage) my XP2100 hammers.
8. then P4 early one was shit and new one is good ( I forget the socket numbers 478 and 428 or something)

hey gobbles i can get you a "green" celery 1000 with the large pentium4 style core not the little shitter one the older shyte had, it fits socket 370, but just check to make sure the board can take it, ill find out a price and post back here k?

Tualatin, make sure your board supports B-Stepping on the chipset. If it doesn't you can just get a converter which can either be slot or socket converters

Coppermine P3 went upto 1.1GHz (100) and 1GHz (133) the 1.13 was retracted. The Athlon went upto 1.2GHz in slot format I have been told, but good luck trying to find one as they were for special orders. Pentium 3-S is upto 1.4GHz.
