Overheating Vid Card

GF2 TI 64mb.

It was freezing in games before I got my comp upgrade aswell as before I moved house.

Now that I have moved house and got a comp upgrade I have narrowed it down to the vid card overheaqting.

Take CS, I didnt turn my comp on for a day and a half booted up cs got some bot play 6 rounds and a freeze. Now the comp doesnt die just the game. So I took the test further and went to bf42. 30secs after game play the game died in the arse. So I have narrowed it down to the card overheating or something else along those lines.

Now the question is, is there anything I can do to help??

New fan on the card? or soemthing..

And the drivers are not the problem as any other higher drivers are not supported by the card

Just out of Curiosity is it a Leadtek card?

I know I said for you to strap a fan to the side of your case to see if it does have anything to do with overheating (and you still should), but I have known 2 Leadtek cards (were geforce 2's but werent the Ti) to die in the ass similar to how the problem sounds with yours. They'd just freeze up during gameplay.

I know 1 of em was fixed - but he put a crystal orb on it and we found that the prob was heating. Even though it didn't do it when he had the card for a while. And then like a couple of months later it just kept crashing.

my brother has the same problem as that freezes all the time....

since you upgraded your comp why not just get a new video card ? gf3 or gf4 ? coz my brother put 2 fans on his and it did nothing....

one thing that did stop it was opening the case and positioning a house fan towards the video card and playing like that...and that way you can even see if the card is really overheating...........

the only down side to that method is the amount of dust it blows so id say test it with it once or twice then if it still does it invest in a new vid card....

I'd love to be able to jkust invest in a new vid card but it aint going to happen.. Got other things to worry about at the present time .. hence why I was asking if anybody knew if there was another way of fixing things??

i am assuming its not covered by warrenty
dose it have a temp sensor ?
dose it have a fan on the GPU or just a HS?

i think mabey your card is just old, and just gave up on cs.

ffs get a crystal orb and artic silver / epoxy it on to the gpu.

Get ram sinks if your ram is getting hot. (not likely unless its cheap ram)

If that dont fix it, the cards got a problem. or your agp slot has a problem

test the fan way i said first coz then you can see if it is overheating then if it is do what flam suggested or get a big ass heatsink and fan like the leadtek gf 4 lol

id have a look at your ram... i mean i had very much the same problem, due to me stressing my ram - shit ram it was.. but at cas2 IT1 etc etc etc maxed it out.
