Palmerston Lan

Im curious in finding out how many Gamers from the Palmerston area are interested in having lans like once every week or fortnightly ?

Please post your thoughts on this topic as im hanging out for a LAN Very BAD!!!!!!!!

Well we usually have one every friday or saturday and during holidays sometimes during the week too. Its very possible, however i think Knight was thinking you ment a rather large lan 20+ people? We usually manage about 7 or 8 every week although i dont go nearly as often as i used too

I live in palmerslum... hrmm... i dont know of any venues.. there was alpha pc's once upon a time, the bloke there when he bought it off the last person reckons he wants to get a darwin clan up and we all play the wars against other clans there... or something, but definately worth a look..

I live in Palmerston and will go to lans all the time when i get my own comp which hopefully is soon :twisted:

I go out to palmerston nearly every weekend to lan with my mates and would not mind a few more ppl, if u could organise a venue there would be 3-4 ppl interested in coming.

I/We have been working on setting up a weekly lan with the NTU. We've sent away for some switches. We've been negotiating venues with the NTU, and I expect we'll have something nailed down in the next month or two. We've identified a good location and we're working on an agreement with the FMD, and on insurance with the Student Union.

It'd be a 24 hour thing, either friday-saturday or saturday-sunday. "0 for members and "5 for non-members.

Obviously we'd shut down for DGA events. And maybe expand the hours in the holidays. But otherwise it'd be easy: it'd be in the same place every week, at the same time, for the same price, and open for anyone to attend.

I've been holding back on talking about it because:

a) I don't want to spook anyone or upset anyone, esp. the DGA crew; and
b) we aren't ready yet. :)

But we're getting pretty close to finalising it: next month or two and we should be ready to rumble. So I guess what I'm saying is - for persons in the Northern Suburbs and those of you willing to make the trip from Palmerston - you don't have to bust your arse organising LANs, worrying about insurance, liability, GST, non-profit tax issues, non-incorporated associations law or any of that stuff. We'll do it for you. Just sit back, relax, and try and get an AWP.

is it held at someones house?

usually at my mates place in bakewell

I know of another 2 people who live in palmerston that would go as well, just as long people will play other things besides cs.

Back when I was new to LANs, one of the locations where they were regularly held involved carrying PCs up stairs.

Funny thing was, it never bothered me - I was glad to be going to a LAN.

Houses go off 4 lans!! WTF its a lan im sure stairs should be the least of anyones worries

yeah i guess when i thinka bout they would be the main problem would be my stupid network :(

after evo i can organise a couple of ppl to come over, we can probaly fit 4 more ppl in, just remember to bring a table

we probally play cs for a couple of hours, but we normally play stronghold, ut2003, battlefield, and V8 chalange. if anybody thinks they can beat me in stronghold, bring it on.

I and a few friends would be keen to get involved on a weekly basis

plus once I work out which 24 port switch to get, I'll bring that along too.

I will be going away for two weeks from this monday but when i get back i will be having a lan in palmerston probaly for two nights, 6 ppl from this forum are welcome to come. when my mate gets his car I can probaly hold lans at my place in milner. we are lanning tonight(saturday) if u want to come leave a post and i will give u the address as soon as i get home at 4.

ps we even have a dedicated server running

We're set to go, have printed a map some one emailed us, just need a phone number to confirm, prob 2 of us, maybe a third avail for 2nite

hey... can anyone come? or whats the go.... i am not that good... but new to lan parties.... i got an 8 port switch if we need to use it...... but as for all the other switches... i guess it will be worthless.... hehehehe

Im new to lans and have only been lanning with a couple mates on and off. Only found out about this place recently and missed the EVO3-_-

I'm interested in going to a newbie lan sometime if someone needs an extra person:). I also have a mate who would be pretty keen. I need a new HDD though as im kinda just upgrading my computer bit by bit hehe. Should have it end of this week, early next week. Then im all set up to lan with every game installed on the HDD lol.

Hopefully shorten my BF1942 load times with the new HDD as well:D. Me and my mate are newbies to CS though!! hehe yeh I know we are way late but it never took our interest really *hides*. Its fun but yeh we will prolly suck pretty bad at it:/. Other than that we play BF1942, UT2k3, Q3A etc (not that im good though-__-)

So if anyone is hosting a lan at thier joint and need people then im very interested.

sorry everybody but i have not posted because im at a mine site with limited access to the net. I get back in to darwin monday night, so nearly every weekend after that there be a lan going friday and saturday nights. anybody is welcome only postistions will be limited, around 12 in palmerston and maybe 20 in milner depending on where it will be held. The weekend i get back i think p-air is holding a lan, so hopfully ill be going to that.

I know a few people that would come to a lan in palmeston

this weekend i have another lan to go to but the following weekend we can organise something out at palmerston. looking for about 6 ppl so post if interested.
