hey
has anyone heard of vapochill cases?...i am thinking of buying ne and i have read reviews but they dont tell me the noise levels it has...i dont really know what 35 decibels sounds like (i mean how loud it is) and can anyone give me an example?...does anyone know of any probs with the case?

Mmmm vapochills are extremely good, think about it, 35 decibels aint that lound, just the soft humm of your compressor and exhaust fan. A compared to your hsf combo which can be anywhere up to 70 decibles which rarely will get your cpu below 30 degrees. whereas vapochill will keep it at a nice frosty below zero or near zero
Only problem is the possible condensation you need to completely cover surrounding areas on the cpu slot with dielectric grease etc and be extremely careful putting the copper slug on as you can crush ur cpu
Not to mention condensation will be considerably worse in Darwin than places which have reviewed the vapochill cases.
i'm sure you can adjust the vapochill's temps can't you?

well yes it would help the condensation.
putting it simply.
raise it to slightly above ambient temperature or at ambient temperature. your CPU will stay at that temperature = no condensation.
noise - don't care - these things are fairly quiet anyway... even compared to watercooling setups.
it really wouldn't matter how much you overclock your CPU either - the ability of the vapochill cases means you could just keep the thermostat at ambient and the thing should run fairly close to ambient even though the heat generated is higher. (basic physics concepts... temperature reaching equilibrium etc but then again i'm not a physics guru ;))
Though the point of a vapochill is getting it practically subzero temps. Wouldn't justify the price having it run that hot now would it? :wink:

i've compentated (sp?) getting one for quite awhile but i havent read or heard much about them so i havent

just read up on them from their official website... and you can find many many reviews on them just by using google.
You can't have a Vapochill sitting at ambient. Set at non-turbo mode, the CPU will sit at about -16 degrees.

I agree. 2200+ uses Tbred A which is not as overclockable as the Tbred B.
Jarthel, depends. a lot of 2200+ were B's.
no you can't keep your ice cream in there because the case uses fitting similar to a watercooling setup to connect to the various parts of the computer in order to keep it cold... it is not likea fridge. (it can't do that because hard drives would fail at this temp. bearing oil would turn to molasses)
plus it would probably be a lot bigger if it had to cool your whole case as opposed to the small surface area of your cpu...
