Post 10

Star Craft

Post 11

Starcraft is making a comeback. keep votespamming guys :)

Post 12

even though Starcraft is my favourite game, i vote warcraft, because I hate to be releastic but if we enter starcraft we have no chance the game has been around for something like 5 years and Ive seen the skill in darwin, its way lacking.

However warcraft I believe we could put up a fight, because Ive seen most of the warcraft players and with a little bit of direction they could be a formidible enemy.

However I do know most warcraft players could enter starcraft as well.. one person could do both competitions.

AOM more skill my ass ><

Post 13

Starcraft has a greater following and as such the amount of players entering would be greater.

i know of many people that play starcraft and wouldn't go to the LAN if warcraft was being played - whereas those that play warcraft can easily migrate to Starcraft.

(that make sense?)

Post 14

if starcraft has a bigger following then you better get them to vote, cause as it stands now, we will be running a WAR3 comp.

Let me guess, this board doesn't accept Korean names that just show up as "¶Øääääääääääääääää" on everyone elses machine? :)

yes it has been out for 5 years. yes there are good players in aus. but i have played L!MP, and legionare, the two best starcraft players in australia. both beat me of course on numerous occasions. but they arent "Unbeatable". hosnestly we would have more chance with starcraft then we would wc3. simply because starcraft is dying, and nobody plays online anymore. everybody plays wc3. so everyone top players skill level would have gone down. unless they have been practising. aus going wc3 or sc doesnt matter. we will get flogged by the Koreans anyway. :(

Post 18

I hate to be blunt, but discussing the topic by stating very reasonable opinions isn't going to change anything. It all depends on your vote, regardless how true or correct the points you are making are.

;) nope, they're aussies which is why i'm confused as to why they are unable to vote :|

when does the poll close?

Post 20

I've got a friend from DHS hoping to go the the LAN and apparently is REALLY good at sc. Wants to be a pro player. Never seen him play though :P

*cough* i know who it is ;) :P ;)

he's pretty good. myself and a friend who are quite capable at Starcraft versed him and we were wiped out in less than five minutes :( as Zerg

went against him again and he went Terran... dead in under five minutes again. then went protoss... take a guess at the outcome. unfortunately he can't play online too much due to Yr 12 and his terrible net connection (like knights old one...)

don't know how good he is compared to say.. Spero or players from down south as i don't play the game too much.

and i've been trying to convince him to come to Evo3.5 but i'm not sure whether he can.

doesn't matter anyway, if the poll goes WC3 then it goes WC3 and i can't help that.

Post 22

k :P

Post 23

Hey Seqo what is his name?

I go to DHS... I might know him heh :)
Me and my friends were running a tiny BW tournament a few weeks ago and were looking around the school for ppl who played BW... Then my friend told me about this drummer guy he spoke to in the music faculty who was supposed really gosu... cant remember exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of "i'll join your tournament if any of you has represented Australia in a mulitinational broodwar tournament"... after that we decided maybe he wasnt the best material for the tournament...

Post 24

i know him, he was joking around ;)

he isn't that good :) btw, which year are you in?

Post 25

However I think the voting's already finished ... Cause I think that WC3 won already.

Post 31

that other post is someone's presumption that WC3 was being played .. the voting is yet to finish .. and as it stands now Starcraft will be the rts of choice.

Which RTS Would You Prefer Be Played at the NT WCG Qualfier?
Starcraft: Brood War (1v1)
46% [ 19 ]
Warcraft III (1v1)
43% [ 18 ]
Age of Mythology (1v1)
9% [ 4 ]

Total Votes : 41

So when does the voting finish? is there a date that the RTS game will be announced?

Post 33

I point needs to be brought up here, this poll is flawed and i believe a vote should be taken at DGA... take a look at this link...

That will never happen .. so get that out of your head now ..

As for spamming to get there prefered game played well it shows how low people will sink but cant do anything can we.

VOTING OPEN FOR ANOTHER 7 DAYS .. Closes 19/6

Post 35

where is the fkn point of extending it? The people who care about it have already voted and are attending dga. It's illogical to continue it.

Post 36

i agree with Minorci

this post has just become rigged and quit saying everything is final.

If there is no discussion there is no equality. Minorci is just trying to make the system fairer.

I am now going to log in a million different names on a million different computers and vote for AOE.

Just trying to be fair. I suggest you get everyone who has actually registered to DGA to vote when they register. Thats just one example.

However your system would work if there wasnt so many idiots who didnt understand fairness who attended dga.

Post 37

Well for a start the voting system is a voluntary First-Past-the-Post, AKA "American Plurality System". And mathematically speaking it is the absolute worst for producing anomalies and undesirable outcomes.

Specifically, WC3 or SC:BW could win, when an absolute majority of people have not voted for it. A bit silly, n'est pas?

Now in the ULC we use the Condorcet Method, which at our level of options and voting is very simple to run, but which can become time-consuming as things get more complex, because the number of calculations necessary rises geometrically with the number of candidates, rather than linearly with the number of votes cast.

Nevertheless, the mathematicians agree that Condorcet Method + Instant Runoff in case of a tie is the superior way of taking a vote. And if your votes are lodged and computed online it becomes no more complicated than a standard Instant Runoff Vote (which is what gets used in Federal/NT/Council elections).

I'm hoping that during the year we'll launch our voting/resolutions system, the work of which currently we do "by hand". I'd be happy for us to share the code (and I had in mind to bring it to the attention of the Debian Project), even if for most purposes it would be complete overkill for quickie web polls.

But when there is real disagreement, people should be able to take a mathematically superior vote: ie, they should be able to list their choices in order of preference, which is possible under Instant Runoff and the Concorcet Method. Actually it is the identical way of marking the ballot that makes the Condorcet Method and the Instant Runoff Vote such useful complements.

Oh, and authentication is a problem too. I think that Sper0's suggestion about only registrees voting is a good start, but not impossible to rig. It's not much harder to sign up to rig the DGA rego page as it is to rig GU.

Post 38

Whatever the poll would have said this weekend would have been final. That is the date I've organised to make it clear which RTS we'll be playing to the boys running the WCG AU.

The poll was set to finish this weekend.

The game of choice will be WarCraft 3.

Oh, and Cyphony, after your pathetic blow at what was once a relatively honest vote, I'm considering banning you from taking part in the event.
