Currently in my year 10 science course it seems that my teacher is wanting me to do a Personal Investigation Task (PIT) which is where I choose something that is interesting to me and do an experiment about it. So what else do I choose but counterstrike :P , anyway DONT start going on about how this experiment sucks (trust me I've heard it heaps :cry: ) but instead think to volunteer yourself and your counterstrike skills to me for about 5 minutes whilst you have some spare moments at this upcoming DGA. The plan is (i wont go into details) that you sit down at my computer for a few minutes, I strap a pulse rate monitor to you, you play out a 1v1 battle with a bot I have waypointed, and during that I record a particular moment when your pulse rate gets higher. In a nutshell it is : To find out the effect of experience on your heart rate in high intensity situations (that is my aim :) ). I have already got volunteers for my Low Experienced and Mildy Experienced experiments but this Saturday night I will be looking for none other than citizens Highly Experienced in the arts of High Intensity Situations, that being people who have played the game of Counter-Strike for 50 or more hours in their lifespan. I only need three volunteers for this experiment but be sure that when you volunteer you are doing a benefit for the world (me in particular), when the results of this experiment prove beyond all doubt how much of a factor experience is when you are dealing with simulated high intensity situations. Please be serious about it as it highly impacts on my semester grade (50% of total I think).

NOTE: I will try as hard as I can to pick 3 volunteers (that is if i get more than 3 appliactions :P ) who are as simliar to each other in height, weight and age because they are all variables I want to try and control.
Is your comp good :twisted: . Will ya be posting the results on GU? Sounds interesting. As its worth 50% of your grade maybe you should try do the test with people playing other types of games such as RTS, RPG and compare the results.
I will be a participant....although playing against a bot isnt exactly hard or intense. Let me play 1v1 with rec or reaps or unseen and it might have a better result.

The thing about it is that it has to be exactly the same for everyone who does it, even my low and medium experienced participants, so if you played against rec then everyone who did it would have to play against rec and he would have to do the exact same thing every single time, also the other people wont be there... although i'd like to see that match, I wonder who would be the most calm... :)

I won't calculate the number of hours I've spent playing CS, I might just realise how many real-life months I've wasted. Let's just say, lots.
Keeping in mind that I'm not sure my pulse will jump around at all, quite frankly visiting my grandma's is more intense than playing 1 vs 1 with a bot.
Unfortunatley I didnt go to school on Friday which prevented me from getting th heart monitor which prevented me from doing the experiment... :( , however It must be done otherwise i'm looking at a D for science :( ... Not quite sure how im going to do it but i had an idea that i may be doing it at a Freedom Lan sometime in the near future... I'll keep you posted :wink:
Aside from that it was a Great DGA and was well good fun except for the fact my CS totally fucked itself up at about 9 PM on saturday... gave me a bloody great headache trying to fix it and got me royally pisesd off :evil: but a big thanks to Ginz for giving me his cstrike folder and also to Flicks for letting leonel use ur computer :D
unfortunately the experiment never went ahead because of lack of a heart monitor, its not possible to do it by checking the pulse manually because I have to know exactly when the highest pulse comes and exactly what it is, unless we have some autistic savants for hire then the experiment will be impossible :cry:
so instead I had to do a experiment about ant poison... :|
Yeah thats a shame I too would have been interested in the results to just to see how people react to certain things. I know the bots in UT2k3 get my pulse moving on godlike :shock:
I would have liked to have seen what other people did in games ah well as you said theres always Year 11. Or you could get a Research Grant at Uni for it LOL, hell some dude got a research grant somewhere to prove Jesus was gay due to the star positions when he was born :shock: so you definately got a chance :lol:
