We're working on uncovering more info, but right now you can take a look at the proof above for yourself, and in the gallery

I call marketing hype IMO. I don't think this was an accident, I'm betting it's some marketing guru's idea and it seems to be working.

Bit unusual for Apple to take such a path though.

what? gizmodo paid money for a device from someone who had no legal right to sell it. they paid an amount of money that classes it as a felony, not a misdemeanour. they did this so they could disassemble the device and post a 'scoop'. of COURSE they should face legal repercussions for this.

So you're telling me that someone who buys a phone off a guy, who found it on a floor of a nightclub deserves to have his door kicked in, his house searched while he isn't present and all his shit he needs to make a living taken away? That sounds like a good system to you?

                        What a bunch of shit.

PS. I'm not denying he did the wrong thing. I'm saying this is over the top. ...and HE didn't even buy it. The company he works for did. Which makes it worse in a way, but still not reason to act so strongly.

Normally, if buying a phone under illegitimate circumstances, yes - this would be over the top. But this isn't just any phone. This is an iPhone prototype!

i'd be interested to see exactly what constitutes the door being broken down here.
