i had some people over this afternoon, i had money on my table, i trusted the people, i left the house with the people and after we got back and they had gone i noticed the money missing... i thaught my idiot self had probably lost it so i searched my whole room, nothing. i rang one of em up and he basically said "oh feck". after acusing everyone i went and told mummy :D and she said, 'oh yeah i took the money sorry i didnt tell you but YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME IF I TOOK IT FIRST" the stupid bitch did this with my calculator before a maths exam aswell... things they do and then blame it on you
anyone else's parents do anything do piss them off
My mum always buy's 2 or 3 Litre bottles of milk and then instead of using it and putting it back in the fridge, she leaves it out to get warm. And everytime I see it I bitch about it because the milk always goes off before its finished, fecking annoying when you go to make a cuppa and the milk smells suss.
i hate it how my teachers ring my mom and tell them about my attitude and school work and blah blah we had a talk today cause a teacher rang up mom: teacher rang up today craig and said blah blah blah (u know the shit not doing good work attitude is down ) me: hrrmm yeha mom: well how bout i take the internet off u till u produce better grades woudl that help? me: nop mom : why not? me: it will just make me angry mom: blah blah blah me: *walks of into room letting her rabble on*
Quote from Harbinger: yeah knight you should tell her that taking the internet away won't help because your an idiot :P it wont help tho cause ill just be angry and go over someones house or do somethign else i only do my school work when it needs to be done
if we dont have the intraweb net then were going to find something else pointless to do, like um well i got njothing but we will read or something or go out side either way we will be anrgy :D

when u ask them how to spell a word and they say " how do u think" jesus liek if i knew i wouldnt have to ask them :x
lol well that all the bad things i can think about my parents that annoys me sometimes they get cross and we fight for other things but there usally casue i did somethign or yeha there is lotsa good things but thats not for this topic
OMG! My dad is THE biggest tool. He doesn't remember anything, and exaggerates everything he does!! And he also tells everyone everything. Some examples. I wanted to go to a party about a month ago. It was far awayish (40 minutes) and I only knew two people there, and there was like 30 people gonna be there. He was telling someone about it, I dunno who, but exaggerated that there was like 50 people there, and they were all idiots (and he doesnt know them) and they'd be drinking, and I'd just manage to take them ALL for a drive in my car and stuff and omg...
I'm not writing anything else, I could go on forever!!
Quote from Philip Larkin: They fuck you up, your mum and dad They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.
But they were f*cked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another's throats
Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don't have any kids yourself.
my folks are cool now, but god they annoyed me when i was younger. my dad used to always yell and bitch that the house wasnt spick and span but he never lifted his finger to help out, and only contributed to the mess. my mum wasnt so bad, but she was kinda lazy and didnt help when i needed it, which pissed me off.... i guess we can all learn from our parents mistakes and try not do the same things for future kiddies of ours huh?
Does anyone else have the problem from your parents that they still think you haven't hit 10 years of age? I think my dad has the problem its just small things like
Make myself something to eat Dad: What you making me?
Just come back from shooping Dad: What you buy me?
walking passed him Dad: Beep Beep
Going out Dad: Can i come?
Little comments like that just really annoy me and i don't know why he keeps doing it cause i never reply... Its something he use to do when i was little... but i got bigger..
But yeah you gotta love your parents.. i mean chances are your goign to turn out exactly like them
my parents are coll in that they dont give a shit what i do outside of the house (as in no curfues, no where i cant go etc). but in the house is a different matter, one thing that pisses me off is at dinner, we all grab our food from the kitchen, i go back to the computer to eat it and browse the forums or what ever. but mum has a sad saying that i need to eat with the rest of the family when they are just eatin in front of the tely. i could go on for ages, but ill stop now.
Ok I have read all the posts here and as a Parent would like to add a few bits and pieces ..... if I may ?
I have a 15 yr old son .... he is 10ft tall and bullet proof but I love him dearly
We have our disagreemnets which usually relate to domestic issues like cleaning up etc. His room is his own world and I ask permission to enter and respect his privacy and all I expect in return is the same courtesy. He can do what he likes in there and I dont clean it up as it is his responsibility as he has to sleep in the mess. BTW - usually looks like a bomb has hit it but when he cant find stuff it remarkably gets cleaned up ... :)
Having experienced a lot of life - both good and bad - I try to offer advice ( not lecture I know best - I dont ) to help steer him around the bad bits .. sometimes it is accepted other times it is not ... but I am always there to pick up the pieces and not say I told you so .... but ask if he has learnt from it - no lectures
He loves computers and gaming but sometimes it needs to be offset with the need to do homework and honour other responsibilities that come with adulthood ... such as cleaning up after himself and generally contributing positively to the running of the household .... I cant do it all.
I take an interest in what he is doing but not in an overbearing way and he in turn takes an interest in my work and what I get up to in the workshop ( I like wood working ). We share a like for gaming and CS in paticular ....
One of my highlights is when we sit together in the beanbag and watch TV and just shoot the breeze about all sorts of things ....
So in summary just think on this ... deep down your parents love you ... not all are good at showing it .... parents are not perfect ( I know I am not ) ... talk with your parents ( ie you initiate the conversation ) about things that annoy you about them and also what you can do to help the situation. Look at both sides of the situation not just your own perspective ....
And to really blow their socks off go up and give them a big hug and say "I love you" ......
you sound like a good dad top gun.... but if only it were as simple as 'walking up and saying "i love you"'.... if i were to do that to either of my parents when i was at home, they would think i was pregnant or needed money... i know its a defence mechanisim, but it still sucks being rejected like that.
besides the little things, i think my folks have made me a fairly useful member to society and although it wasnt partridge family type stuff, im pretty cool with how my parents bought me up, all things considered
Just remember who brought you into the world ( oh and btw when you pop out you dont come with an instruction manual ) , changed pooy nappies, suffered the indignaty of upchuck down ya back while burping you, fed, housed and clothed you for all these years .... and all I ask is a little love and respect ....
Yeah I know some people are scared of affection - both giving and recieving ... but hey life is short ... give it a try anyway .... :)
oh wait... you meant my parents right?.... doh! there was just too much happy love-ness radiating, i got confused, my bad.... :?
Noooo - dont stop the hugs .....
Another thing I like is when I sleep in on Sunday my rugrat ( all 60Kg's of him plus dog ) jump into my bed, wake me up and snuggle in for a cuddle ... wreck the bed .... wet nose and tongue ( dog ) and arms and legs everywhere ( rugrat )
/me pretends to be all gruff and grumpy ....
Then the TV comes on and we watch cartoons for an hour or so ....
well. my dad's thinks he knows everything. to make matters worse, he won't admit that he doesn't know something... even if it is vitally important for his life to continue. i'm not exaggerating either.
he also doesn't do anything - yells at me for not being able to tell him the exact location of the remote control for the T.V. then, if the yelling doesn't make me tell him - out comes the threatening. i tell him that i have no idea... (i rarely watch television... on the occasions which i do, there are usually other people around watching it and i am never in control of the remote). yells at me for not paying attention, then yells at me for not looking for it. he yells that i never clean the house (i pretty much control the cleaning of my household...), when i don't have the time (due to year 12) to do such enormously important things as dusting the bookshelves, he yells at me. he would, and has, never done shit about such situations. nor does he ever help in the whole cleaning process.
I am the first to admit that I dont know everything especially when you are largely responsible for another person's well being ... as I said kids dont come with an instruction manual ...
It can be quite scary wondering if you are doing the right thing .....
/me gives Seqo defacto platonic fatherly type hug ....
Quote from TopGun: Have you tried telling him how you feel ?

my dad isn't good with anything to do with 'feelings' or 'emotions'. i tell him how i feel i will more than likely end up with a 'missing' computer and a car with no engine. he's just like that - i've learnt to put up with his shit. seriously, to me, you sound like a bloody awesome dad... but not all fathers are like you. some don't try - and even if they do maybe they just don't really care too much.
you probably did stuff like kicking a footy around with your son etc (you get the general gist here..). never happened here - maybe i hold a little bit of a grudge against him for stuff like that but he chose to watch tv and sleep rather than spend time with myself, or my two brothers. the fact that you and your son share a love for computers and gaming is mind boggling to me. my father and i both like cars - but he likes cars because he knows more about them (mechanical engineering and all that shiznit) than i do.
the old saying about turning out like your parents etc (Cat Stevens - Cats in the Cradle) is too true with my dad. he turned out exactly like his dad...
i just hope to god that i never turn out like him... for the sake of my children.
My dad was a drunken bum ... mum was never home ...
So I brought myself up and vowed never to be like them ... you can change your own destiny if you want to ....
So dont go down the path that I will be just like them ... please .... for the sake of your future children ..
I am just a big kid at heart and we still play Lego, CS etc and yes we did kick the footy and play cricket and me throw hockey balls so he could practice his goal keeping skills ...
TopGun... I wish all parents were like you... My parents are so old fashioned so to be like that is THE DEVIL!!
They refuse to understand who I am, they refuse to open up and admit they are wrong sometimes. They seem to think that when they are wrong they shouldn't apologize for telling me off because they thought they were right... Coming from asian backgrounds, they grew up a lot differently to me and I can accept that, They don't speak english as well as they would like to and I have learnt to accept that... I can't tell them much because they just push it aside because they wouldn't understnad and so I am stuck in this rift full of emotions flying everywhere a lot of the time. :( :( :(
I think i'll stop there.. I could go on and on about the bad points... but I must say that there are soem good points and deep down i love them too... (I hope :?)
All you "kids" bitching about your parents, that you're old enough to make the decisions for yourself and you know whats best, then you're old enough to move out. Stop your bitching and whinging and try living in the real world. Heaps of you are whinging about just some annoying quirks your parents have, you lucky bastards. I wish my family was that fucking stable.
-edit- May have been off topic, but why complain about your parents, you either live and deal with it, or leave.
id just like to give a pat on the back AND a big hug to top gun, my dad's dad was a wanker and i dont know many and when i say many i know 4 of my relitives all together so for you to have had all that and ended up being a dad and a friken awsome one at that mate hates off all round gg
my dad is just a wanker along with my mum and sister so i spend all teh time either in my room or not at home at all, my weekends consist of me coming home on sunday night and thats it cause being at home is like a punishment
minori i completly understand what your saying but is alot harder than it seems, if i could do it i would move out at an instint. its comlicated why we cant move out but the main reasons are
1) to be able to support yourself would mean working alot of hours in the week probably at a shitty job 2) schooling is important to some people so to working instead of study in year 12 os not an option 3) who would cook and clean for us 4) who would tuck us in at night
we deal with it by bitching about them to close freinds and everybody on the GU forums im not having a go at you cause i have said the same thing myself its just harder than it seems
I use to get on really well with my parents. Since they have split up (in the last 6 months) everything has gone down hill. Dad doesn't live at home any more, I never see him and he only ever talks to me about school work and how he knows its hard for me and its not my afult. Mum's a weck and I can't reason or talk to her anymore with out her getting upset and carrying on.
It use to be good, now its crap. I can't use the car because mum's reason is "Its mine", I have to be home at a reasonable time "Because you do" and if I'm late I get in shit. The only reason I'm still living at home is because of my younger brother, to keep the peace and keeping my mum together. The free living is nice too...
Lucky I'm 18, finishing school and will be able to live my own life in the next few months.
So many parents are a touch on the insane side, but it really is a matter of perspective. You get older, move out and visit the real world and really discover how great it was at home, no matter how bad it was.
For some I'm sure that their parents are complete nutters, but seriously, deal with it and learn not to be like them. There's so much to be greatful for...
My dad is JUST like Seqo's, and i'm in the same case as him.
My dad provides, and by that i don't mean guidance and love, i mean money. If i need or want anything, then i get it, but that ain't reall yimportant is it. He never does anything, says anything, if the grades are good, his happy, if theyre down a bit, then its his god given right to tell me about it. I lived with him for two years, moved back here with mum start of this year, love mum to bits, and she is deadset one of the greatest mums in the world.
Unlike Mr Cat Stevens however, i am not gonna grow up to be like my dad, i refuse to be. I guess i aim to be different from him, be the exact opposite. Even at age 18 i've been told plenty of times i'd make a good husband and dad, bit scary though because i'm so young.
oh, and toppy, can i be your new son, pleeeeeeeease!
cow, that's uncanny. my dad earns money... and he thinks that's the only thing he needs to do.
mum listens to the same sort of music as i do, plays video games (esp. fighting games) with me and my mates, even goes shopping for stuff with me... most blokes my age think that's weird - but she's got good taste in clothing... and spirits ;)
toppie, you rock. i know i won't turn out like my dad, i avidly avoid that. but i always wonder what would happen if, in my avoidance, i turned out like him anyway... scares me.
my dad used to be worse... but that's personal... and i'm not screaming it all over the forums.

Those reasons exactly state why you should suck it down and learn to live with parents. You need them.
i have learnt to deal with it but only through the help of the best freinds any one could want. in some sense my freinds are more my family than my actual family
mom: teacher rang up today craig and said blah blah blah (u know the shit not doing good work attitude is down )
Well, FWIW, in Australia it's spelt "Mum". I don't mean to be rude, but I really don't like the yank's version of the word.
My parents - well I didn't like 'em when they nagged me as a kid. They said "no" to everything I wanted, even though all the other kids seemed to get stuff. The old man has a very cutting wit sometimes, and indeed so does a lot of my family.
So I didn't always like everything about my parents. Now that I've grown up, I realised that they were doing the right thing. I get along a lot better with the old man (he just turned 60!) because we have stuff to talk about now.
They just moved away from Darwin, so I miss them. Also, I miss having an "emergency dinner" venue :/
well hasnt this been a great little topic... im not a fan of group therapy, but online its okay, because its not face to face. it helps to get stuff out in the open. you start... then keep going and going! yay!! GROUP HUG!
i wonder if in the years to come, the younger people who have posted in this topic, if they will one day look back and realise that their parents werent so bad after all?... i did that with my dad. we used to argue so much. i ran away from home so many times because of him, i hated him and totally wished he would die, then took it back because my mother would be miserable. but now after a few years of living out of home, its not so bad and its still really strained (my family isnt big on the hugs and emotions) but i can at least say hello and ask what he has been up to without feeling like a total tool. its not a huge thing, i feel like a moron that i cant jst get along with my dad like everyone else i know, but thems the breaks eh!
i think that top gun is the surrogate dad of GU now! :P
Hmmm I may sound good but believe me I have my faults too - yes I nag which seems to be the main complaint about parents.
But we have come to an understanding - I wont nag ( repeatedly ask ) if it gets done first time of asking - works most of the time but we still have our spits and spats .... usually last 5 minutes then an hour or so of cool off then a quiet rational discussion of the issue ...
I am probably the oldest GU person here .... but that doesnt make me all seeing and all knowing ... I am still learning about life and people .... all it means is I have lived more life ( rightly and wrongly ) than all of you ...
I would adopt all of you in a flash as most seem to have a direction and focus in life ... and for youngun's you come across as quite mature and sensible .....
I always wanted a daughter to bounce on my knee ..... :)
/me just leecherous old man .... :)
So chin up and enjoy your youth while you still have it ... its a big ugly world out there ....

Mate, I know it's hard as I went through exactly the same thing, but you will get through it, and it will get better. One piece of advice, don't take sides, you will regret it. When my parents split up, I sided with my Mum and despised my Dad. As a result I didn't see him for 4 years and missed out on some the best times because I was just too stubborn to see different. Now my Dad and I are best friends, I can talk to him about anything.
Also, if either of your parents start paying out the other one, tell them you don't want to know. I know it sounds rude but explain to them it's between them and to keep you out of it. Any problems drop me a line I'll see if I can help :)
This has got to be one of the best forums around... I mean where else would people post their problems and have themselves consoled and helped out by the general community... You guys all rock!
I have a bloody brilliant one, just happen to me tonight (bout 45 mins ago)... And yet... I won... CONVINCINGLY! 8) :D
Tonite... I went to my friend's 19th... nothing unusual here... but anyways, recently I've developed the habit of getting home late... very late (about 2:45am tonite). Anyways, so you know, I pull into my drive way open my garage and put the car in... Now normally not a hassle.... But tonite... It is in my belief my parents wanted me to wake them and let them see the time I got home. They did this by bolting the front door, and locking the door that connects the garage to the house. Anyways, so I get out of the car, not knowing this, I walk over to the door connecting to rest of the house try to turn it.... and nothing.... At this point I think to myself "You're f@#$ing kidding?!?" and it struck me I left my keys on my desk (I do not have a key to this door mind you) So I'm thinking "oh shit... I may need to open the garage again, and go out the front door and ring the bell..." but I think.. "well... bugger that, I dont want to get busted. Worse comes to Worst, I'll just sleep in the car tonight".
After a few moments, I have a moment of brilliance ... I'm thinking... "what if I try to pick the lock?!?" So for the next ten minutes or so I'm walking round in the garage, and I find a few safety pins and 2 hair clips. So there I am for a good 20-30 mins, I'm there pushing the pins in, and stuff and jiggling the hairclips... and nothin seems to be happening... I guess this stuff only happens in the movies.... So bummed, I just step back and look at the door, almost resigning to the fact I may have been beaten... then it happens, I noticed... "Hey...I can see the bolt which secures the moving mechanism which holds the door through a that slit between the door and the frame..." so I think  "hmm if I had a bit of string, maybe I can slip it through, and pull it on through!!" So for the next few minutes I walk round the garage and look for bits of string. I find a coat hanger, some really thin taper and this bit of cord (the type used for holding parcels together) So I try each piece without luck.... and then I get to this bit of parcelling cord and go.... "PLEASE!?? WORK!!!" so I slide it into this gap and try to work my magic... it seemed to have slid itself nicely between the mechanism and frame... but then I realised that there was a second mechanism... that I couldnt get the cord through... And once again with brilliant ingenuity   I grabbed one of the safety pins and used it to push aside the second mechanism, and thus freeing the cord. AND more importantly me from my vehicle storage prison!
I cant wait to see the expression on my parents' faces when the find me snuggly in bed tomorrow/this morning 8)
Same thing happend to me like text book. Parents rang while i was at work, asked if i was coming home for dinner at 10 when i finished i said yes. Got home at 10:30 lights are off. check all the doors hmm all locked even the garage (doors at my house are never locked not even when we not home  ) ring door bell.. wait 5 minutes ring again nothing bash on door nothing go around the back yell at there window throw shit at it still nothing. Ring the home phone 10 times.... NOTHING. Was getting angry by now.. it was 11:00 pm now. break into garage... though yay i'm in..wrong they dead bolted the door from the garage to the house... jump in mums car in the garage and beep horn.... not a f'ing thing. ring a few more times... bash on back door... crack the shits start swearing madly. sister wakes up.. comes down stairs opens door and tells me to be quiet!!! not a happy person. any way got inside just before midnight cat hat eaten my dinner so went to bed.
Next night parents going to bed i'm on the computer the come in and tell me to turn the computer off because it's to loud and will wake them.. :x

You're exctally right, right from the beginign I had some instinct that kept me from taking sides, or being interested in the details of the break up. I'm in a neutral position at the moment, and allthough its awkward at times, its not negative between either of my parents. Its suprising how many people have been in the same situation.
First of all Crazy Llama if someone hasnt said this already the sky is blue not blye. Don't worry I forgive your simple typo.
I would have to say the most annoying things my mum used to do is yell your name from the opposite side of the house and expect us to come running out to her. If she wants to speak to us she can move her arse in our direction why should we have to go to her!
Number 2) When mum would run around like a chicken with its head cut off looking for something. Then after 2 minutes when she couldn't find it she'd yell at us to "give it back" or find it. Remember one time she lost her earings and yelled at us about it. So went into her room opened her jewellery box and voila omg could it be her earings? Of course.
Man I hope Im not that bad when I have kids!
PS. Thats only about 5% of the stuff my mum did if that. PPS. Happy 50th mum!
Heh, things parents do... My mum just walked in after coming home from work and here is the line of conversation. Intro, its the first day back at school, and due to the nature of holidays my sleeping pattern will take some readjusting. Anyway i had assembly and study period, which allows me to slip into school late without an impact on my subjects.
Mum: Nick im not at all happy about you sleeping in! Your lazy and inconsiderate, ill be suprised if you get anywhere at this rate. Me: Ummm, hi mum how was your day Mum: (smirk) Me: (Gets up and jumps around, hugs mum and watches smile creep across her face)
Heheh i love it.
Im in a similar boat to JeC, as he knows, except my parents split back when i was 8. Back then i didnt know any details, i dont want to go into them now either but i think the fact my family is so divided is the reason i dont place much value in it. I tend to look to my friends for support first. Anyway :) My dads always on my back about school, year 12, im doing well for myself, just got to put my head down the next month.
mum : cameron put your hockey stuff in the cuboard me:ok /me gets up and goes to put the stuff in te cuboard... no room me: mum theres no room mum: yes there is me: ahh theres not .mum gets up and checks mum: well someone has put sopmething there, probably you, now move it and put your hockey stuff in there me: what do you want me to do with the stuff i take out mum: .... so i left all of the shit on the floor
I love the little snippets of parental chit chat ....
I can relate to a few like knowing what rugrat has be doing ... so predictible ...

Quote from (H|DD3N)Dr@G0N: The thing that's REALLY pisses me off is that my dad has put a f-ing password on my computer and only types it in when i do stuff like the dishes anyway i noe half of the password
If you own the computer then that is GHEY, no offence dude :) BTW, Doing the dishes should just be something you do, I know I did, it's a tiny minor job if he asked you to vacuum the house that would be a different matter.
As for 8:30 bed, Um I sorta had that phased out about year 6 or 7. At 16 I could go go for a ride at at 3 in the morning if I wanted to, (I didn't cause who the fuck does that sorta shit at 3 in the morning).
As for moving out, I only moved out about 8 months ago, and your parents become very different people (they don't change, you just see them differently) and you realise that they were only trying to help. Also, there will be times when you just wish you could go home.
