I doubt that would give you much better ping than
PADSL-1500-Yellow "39 $99.95 1500k / 256k 8,000 MB
that, and for the same price... I dont really know how much of an impact upload speed would have on a game :?

They are basically the same ping times. At least thats how I worked it out buy going to the relevant webpage and doing the sums. The big advantage comes when hosting games .... more upload bandwidth mean more players on your server ..... either that or more bandwidth for the current number of players you can host with 256 upload.

Gone from a 512 - 8Gb plan, to a 512 - 24Gb plan or for same price could go 1500 -8gb plan :|

For those who are curious the difference between a 512 and a 1500 plan in Darwin to internode servers is about 5-10ms difference, and a good 10-15ms say to GA or GU/Sabaki, etc (eastern state servers). This is only going from observation of Gobbles ping times in game of CS, compared to mine, many factors may change this (rates, etc etc) but I do think there is a lil difference.
As for other games - no idea :D

with 1500 I can play CS or DC and still d/l and not see any diffence if I was playing with out d/l

im pretty sure any plans anyone else is already on will stay on that plan. not change to the new deals. hope they do :D but i doubt it. but yea more upload cirtainly will give better pings.

i'm changing off the flatrate to the blue.. same price..
FlatRate i start losing speed after 6,000 MB.. whereas i can get a premium service on the blue,m up to 24,000 MB.
I usually download around 15-20,000 MB a month, so it works for me!

When their 3Gb plan went to 4.5gb, it affected everyone.
They cant give these new rates to new customers and not existing ones. It would be like, bad practice for their business and im sure theres a law against it somewhere.

Ive applied for 512/512 green from 1500flatrate, but it wont take affect untill Dec21. Still from what ive read ping times will be better, if not, then i'll switch back.
I hope everyone is aware that node charges a fee for changing line speed but charges nothing for changing plan within the same speed.

Up to 12 Gb - little or no performance impact, even in busy periods.
12 Gb to 24 Gb - moderate performance impact during busy periods.
24 Gb to 30 Gb - potentially heavy performance impacts during busy periods.
funny.. just 1 week ago i got an email (which i'll edit my post and add here when i can be bothered) saying they have no intenion of changing the flatrate plans.. in which case i changed to the PADSL-512-Blue... 24,000mb Limit.. and now they do this!! and i can't do nothing for a month because it changed this morning... silly internode.

I'd still say the Premiem that you've changed to (Blue) will still be better. I mean 24gb by the time you hit that on flatrate you'll be hitting probably half speed!
I don't know what your download habits are like but if 24Gb aint enough then damn! I think you made the right choice, and it will ensure you have a constant fast speed.
Sorry to say (and yeah a lil silly of node too) but if you didn't think flatrate was going to change then you silly :P The premiem plans were about twice as good for the same amount, it was only obvious they had to increase the usage of the flatrate to make the a viable option. Nah sorry shouldn't say your silly :P Its not up to you to realise this, node kinda bit stupid sending you that email, oh well it happens.

If you are talking about ADSL it is not possible although ....
The specs for ADSL go up to 5Mb .... typically it is implemented as a 2Mb stream - 1500 down and 512 up
They run at 2Mb for reliability as it is distance dependant so the further from the exchange - up to 5k's - the worse the line quality - so to cater for that they only rate the service at 2Mb

but that's only in Australia. i can't wait for the days when we get the kind of speeds that korea and japan get. 12Megabit is quite a common plan. i believe jupiter or juniper internet in japan just released a 24mbit ADSL service (i don't think it is 'true' adsl as that is limited to 8 or something but that is what it is advertised as.)
all this through optic fibre networks :) unlike our copper. also, my ADSL modem is rated at 8mbit and this modem is a bit long in the tooth... where does 5mbit come from? is that the maximum through Australian lines?
