That doesn't mean there haven't been disconnections, when my dsl connection drops, it doesn't show in the LAN connection properties, not unless I reboot my computer. Often the only way I know I've been dced is if I've been dced from various DC hubs at the same time.

Post 19

that wasnt my lan connectiong bro casue we couldnt be fucked getitng that to work so i just dialed through his modem aswell

"Statewide Outage (AFAIK)
Seems telstra are doing some work on the core area's of the DSL network, so things might be up and down tonight.. dont get frightened, it's only an outage, and there's a 50% Chance telstra will fuck up :P
Internode Advisory #2285"

OK - as more subscribers come on to an exchange so up goes the usage of available bandwidth.

When I first got ADSL I was about the 3rd or 4th on our exchange - great throughput and very stable - 12 months later and another 100 or so people on adsl the response had gradually declined and got periodic dropouts .... whinged to Telstra and they upgraded link into exchange - all good now

I suspect the DSLAM's at exchange are programmed to throttle to available bandwidth out of exchange and aren't too fussy how they do it so will just reduce some subscribers to 0 until congestion clears.

BTW - use the filters for second phone on ADSL - it can cause weirdness with ya connection - read an article on it a while ago - and nope cant remember where.
