Can you change back? UQ's St Lucia campus is much nicer than ANU's. Both courses are well-regarded, but UQ has a better student lifestyle and social scene.

Post 57

plus, i think cow and whisthper go to ANU..... GO QLD!!!

Post 58

You're a cruel, cruel, funny, cruel man.

Also I should have added that the UQ Liberal Club have their stuff well and truly together. They regularly recruit 4-500 members. On the other hand, ANULC is a national laughing stock. If student politics is your thing, UQ is a better choice.

Post 59

UQ have a better lifestyle scene?

f**k me, i don't live on campus and i can vouch for how awesome ANU social life is, between the refectory every thurs/sat night, and the city, couldn't be happier

and i challenge UQ to beat our O week

Post 60

I recognise that speaking for the honour of your varsity is to be expected, but I've seen a lot more campuses up close than most students. I've spent time at both UQ and ANU. I know that to you ANU is wild and over the top, but by Australian standards it's pretty middle of the road. UQ has a lot more students, a much nicer campus and frankly Brisbane leaves Canberra for dead on a lot of measures.

O-Week is wild everywhere (where O-Week is held, anyhow). The University of Sydney's is probably the best-funded and organised. Not many O-Weeks get Triple J presenters to broadcast live onsite, do they?

Post 61

I should probably add that NTU should have merged with ANU. Bloody student union.

Post 62

I think a new video card, LCD monitor and window for my thermaltake case is in order.

Uni of Canberra - StoneDay - had TripleJ live presenting...

Not that I went to that Uni, but I certainly went to that :)

Post 64

LCD monitor is on its way

And video card after that

Post 65

OD, stoneday or stonefest?

that's another reason to go...this year we had groove armada, butterfingers, 1200 techniques and a medley of other performers.

Post 66

StoneDay - they have since turned it into a bigger event - read up on your history lad :)

http://www.stonefest.com.au/Pages/SF_History_mainpage.htm

Post 67

I have seen the John Butler Trio, Lo-tel, Icecream Hands and Butterfingers front for an event for a college at Sydney University. Not for the University. A single college, with around 400 residents.

The Whitlams regularly play the Refrectory, as do other bands.

[edit: and Alex Lloyd for another college].

Post 68

ffs

1 - I want to go to Canberra, not Brisbane (my sister has been at UQ for the last three years and does not seem that excited, plus most of my extended family live in the surrounding area :( .

2 - I don't go to see live bands very often and I don't listen to music much so I don't care about live bands in O-Week.

3 - I'm not interested in student unions and politics, I have enough bullshit in my life already.

4 - Canberra is cheaper than UQ (fees not going up) and the colleges are also cheaper.

5 - I've been offered a bursary the commerce faculty at ANU and have been offered a place at one of the colleges

Post 69

My institution is bigger than your institution! :P

Post 70

To make $50,000 per month before the end of 2005.

Post 71

by bending names?

Post 72

going down to adelaide.. drinking with dazza.... and big day out..

Post 73

Easy, boy, easy. You're entitled to your opinion. ANU is a fine university. I just felt UQ would have been a better choice if you had it.

Post 74

Quote from 666:

No not entirely, but by building up web based businesses.

Hey, no worries. Congratulations on the placement. Putting aside comments about non-scholastic aspects of universities, ANU's law school has the enviable advantage that the High Court is only a few kms away.

Post 80

Gf got accepted for her degree change from Electrical Engineering/Science to Adv. Science/Arts. (She had to reapply to UAC using her Year 12 scores rather than a switch at the university level)

The past week was more stressful than the first time she was awaiting her offer :|
