for those that don't know.. iinet are slamming two NT exchanges. Darwin and Casuarina, sometime before March.
makes u get IINET for home phone which is dodgy.
and is that 1500 too 8000 does the pric cover anywhere in between of is that for the lowest plan in the bracket?? would be interested to know that.
26 hours to blow the 80 gig cap @ 8000. that's awfully sad when compared to capped plans in other countries which are up around the 500gig mark

They dont make you get the phone. They just offer a cheaper price and more download if you get a phone as well.

don't forget the faster speed :D

not 100% sure what you mean.. but if i read it right..
the plan trains to the best possible speed it can get for the line.. anywhere from 1500 up to 8000, and between 256 and 1000 for download.
i have the full iipone thingy....and on cas exchange...and my current adsl cost 89.95 so i will geet the heavy 8mbit plan....cant wait
*burk moves to neotheo's place*
alright what I ment was.
Ok you kinda explained it burk if that is true. So for $89 whatever a month .. and you have iinet phone thing you will get 1000 - 8000 depending on what your line can handle.
I was thinking that maybe they will have a price change if you get the higher download speeds.
nup, that price is set.. whatever speed your line ends up getting.. if you get 8000, then good for you, if you get 3500, then still better than 1500 but it costs you the same as the guy on 8000..
no, jsut went through the terms and conditions....
its 89.95 and u may not get full speed due to the line quality, distance from exchange ect
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=294388
so far 25% are on 7-8mb/sec, that's 775kb/sec +
i really want to find a new place near the cas or darwin exchange and get this once they iiDSlam them.. who is with me, i need some volunteers!!
That gay how you have to switch from telstra phone to iinet phone to get the better internet deal.
So who has iiPhone already, pros and cons.... not looking for "I heard it was crap, from someone else"
As for saying that it is a shit package because it isn't europe quota size, it is at least one of the best ISP plans on the market at the moment.
Also how long is the contract for iinet?
so long as people are willing to put up with mediocrity in their internet plans, the best will still be mediocre. i'm on 64gig right now for a 1.5mb connection, an 80 gig cap for a connection 5.3x as fast is laughable. i'm sorry, but 8mbit is a step in the right direction, too bad it is CRIPPLED by a laughable usage limit.
If you don't leech or bit torrent you would rarely hit your limit. In January, I think, I hit 5 gigs.
So I wouldn't call it a laughable usage limit by any means, even with out free pipe.
I would as you wouldnt really need these speeds unless you were downloading or having a dozen mates over.

if you don't leech or use bittorrent, what else are you going to use your download speed for?
40gig is useless with those speeds. Knight and I were able to clock upto 62% on my 64gig plan with 1.5mb in a week
i have iiphone, no probs here. and 8mbit would be sweet for those times you dont want to wait as long for that new beta, patch, mod, entire anime series (can be 30+ gig) etc
but then u will say "is it worth the extra money?", and the answer is what extra money? I am on 1.5 and the cost is 89.95, so it isnt more expensive.
Have a look at TSN's DSL2+ plans.

good for you. i regularly did 50+ gig on my 512k adsl, back when ozforces was decent. the point isn't about using all of your cap. the point is that you have to worry about it in the first place. i was happy paying in excess of "80 a month for an uncapped, unshaped download plan at 1.5/256. i would happily pay that again to get rid of the hassle of wondering every time 'is this really worth the download?'.

15gig cap? crackerheads.
Internode Flatrate SOHO 1.5 plan is apparently clocking upward of 140gig a month... for "49.95
I guess what I was trying to get accross in my previous post was, for me these plans are more or less unlimited plans for me, since I don't leave my machine downloading the net 24/7. When I go to a lan, I only end up watching about 1/3 of what I actually download at them, this is where I can comprehend why people try to download the next each month. Though it is much quicker to get dvd iso's now with these higher speeds.
i'm uncomfortable with the 'may be prioritised' aspect of that plan. but meh. i'd be very likely to switch to 8mbit anyway :)
Likewise about the switch, but I know nothing about there phone access bundling side of it.
For me the clitcher is 16x fast, more than double quota, for "0 more
Telstra $80 per mth 1500/256 speed unlimited
anything else is a waste of time
:P
Telstra got any 8000 speed plans?
mm..thought not.
of course this is all dependent on if they actually slam the exchanges on time .. no doubt they will.
but we have all seen the lack of support that the NT gets for well anything.

agreed. I will switch over if they get speeds past 5000k in darwin
Doesnt matter, until I see it Ill believe it
otherwise Ill believe it when I see it
Soon as your head outta the telstra corporate "bum" you should start to believe there are better alternatives. :)
Never!!! we own everything everyone else owns shit and i still get a better price with Telstra woot woot!!!
maybe u get a better price because u work for them .. as far as your plans go with the 12month contract or pay huge for sign up goes ..
hehe not your fault though. You just work the shop.
Quote from cockroche:

will they own the dslam in the cas exchange that ables u to get a max of 8000k?
Lol
oi cockrochai, did u ask around at the telscum shop?
8mbit or 1.5 mbit.....mmmm....wonder what i will choose
even if it only reaches 3.4-6 mbit, it will have a net connection faster than cas seniour college 4 mbit satalite
WoW man im catching some BIG fish here.... who else wants to come fishing?
:P
Ella I fish cockroche.
The NT will never have the speeds that 'down south' have until telstra puts lots of dollars into the infrastructure of the phone system here.
We currently have suburbs that are connetected to an exchange with no copper in the lines.
This means no adsl ever.
Try and get adsl in Karama and see what happens.
Tesltra bashing no, just the facts.

No true.
IINET are slamming the Exchanges at Casuarina and Darwin .. Meaning that whilst we wont get 8000, we should be able to get between 2-5 guessing .. as they are also slamming Adelaide.. aka Darwins first hop no matter who your ISP is.
When this happens the speeds will improve.

clackers explain what you just put up :)
Unseen, its all before you.......
I don't get it either.
He's put up a bunch of plans... but from what provider? And why is it relevant?
exactly that ?? who is the ISP .. As I know Sabaki is an ISP now as well .. so wondering where he is getting the prices from ..
As he is a Ozforces person still ?? maybe its them.
never have i seen something so random... yay!
???
ok.. now i've seen something just as random..
hmm.. just googled them plans, gave one result, which was back here.
considering there is a 'TBA' in one the these plans, they probably don't exist anyways
