The first states to be hit with the speed caps are Victoria and Tasmania, today. All other eastern states will be progressively downgraded throughout February and March with South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia being finally downgraded on the 5th of April.

-------------------

As most on telstra ADSL would know wernt getting capped at 10gb. As they had to manually cap people ..

As of April 5 for NT people anyway it goes automatic .. so unlimited ADSL is no more :) ...

Ripped from Whirlpool.

Now... who here DIDN'T see this coming?

Post 3

it wasnt the Didnt see it coming. . It was always there. They just never had an automatic system installed.

People will now automatically be slowed to 64kb/s just faster then dial up after they hit there 10gig UNLIMITED limit :)

bad luck Telstra ADSL'ers

Post 7

More like OWNED.

Post 8

I think you are missing the point ..

they arnt owned .. or bad luck, they knew this was there. As it was part of the Telstra contract.

Its now only being enforced as they pulled there fingers out and put in an automatic system.

Thats the funny part, it took them this long to implement it.

g0t swiftnet? less bullshit, better speeds

Post 10

I might have been referring to the smaller group of users who had signed up on this plan because of Telstra's sloth like behavior on implementing restrictions...

Hang on. Telstra, slothely implementing restrictions? Where are the flying pigs!?

Post 11

Hrmmm isn't that false advertising calling it an unlimited plan when it clearly now is not at all?

Post 12

You might be able to call it misleading, however, the contract did state the change.

Post 13

You can't truly call anything unlimited... but that's being picky.

Their 'unlimited' comes from the the 'You can download as much as you want... but after 10GB's you'll be doing it at 64kb/s".

Post 14

WTF after 3 years waiting for ADSL, by supporting telstra - who added copper to my RIM I will be immediately capped at 10GB.....

Post 15

yep as of April 5th .. I have been reading, alot of people are angry, but as most have pointed out, its been in the contract all the time. :(

Post 16

It's not like there's not at least 20 very good alternatives.

Post 17

yeah but most people are probably stuck on telstra's icky contracts and have to pay a hefty sum to break contract...

I think some people went with telstra assuming this "manual capping" would go on forever :D

you gambled and now you lose :D

My parents set up our contract, but I am seriously considering putting in a new line in my room with a different ISP but the cost is a bit steep at the moment.

Its unfortunate that they have installed an automated system now, I was downloading 30 GB a month, now I can only get 10... ah well.
