Interesting to note that no NT exchanges are scheduled for upgrade by Internode - mostly SA, some NSW and VIC....
Still leaves iiNet as the only viable option for now (for high speed ADSL, that is).

It really is nice to see decent adsl speeds becoming available. I have to wonder though. It wasn't all that long ago when adsl was offered with truly unlimited downloads. Then they decided to cap people because it congested the network too much (or whatever :P), so now with these adsl speeds of between 16-24 times faster, and download caps generally increased too (hmm, iiNet more so than Internode), how can ISP's guarantee we'll get a decent speed from our lines, all the time. Has Australia's infrastructure been dramatically increased recently?
I'm not all up to date on adsl technologies and what not, but does this 'adsl2' actually increase badwidth between cities/states/countries, or just between your house to the exchange?

I have to say... I'm not exactly that impressed. Whilst it's a great speed... since there is no planned DSLAM I'll probably end up with iiNet in the next few months. Bit disappointed in the $40 price difference between the Pro and Elite/Flatrate plans seeing as my price point is around the "10 mark and I use more than 30Gb a month :(
Neo, house to exchange. Just means that the companies better make sure that their infrastructure is up to scratch... (Which is, I guess, the reason Internode isn't offering the full ADSL2/2+ speeds)

I shall upgrade to the 1500/256 plan for the same money that the plan I am now on. yes I loose the download limit to 5GB, but due to work I am not exceeding it.
I see it as value for money and speed increase for a minor sacrific for download limit.

tpg's basic unlimited value is much better than inode. It has more download limit and it's cheaper by "0. There were reports in whirlpool of unreliable customer service with TPG which I have yet to experience in my 8 months of stay.
I guess if you call them often enough, you might experience it. But since am I DIY-type of guy, I don't have to. Plus the fact that I just pm the TPG rep in whirlpool which provides a reliable avenue for my queries. :)
Speed? had full speed most of the time at least on the times when I actually look at the download meter.

heh but on very limited exchanges! (less than a hundred compared to the 1000+ Telstra dslams out there) and I don't think Darwin is even on the radar screen :)
and even though you're on a inode dslam, 7Gb is easily consumed on the 1st day with a 12Mbits download

iiNet are now trialing adsl2 on there network now as well. Darwin enabled by the end of march, and living 300m for it, so nice speeds for me. Next lot of iiNet exchanges will be released in the next couple of weeks so Nightcliff and Palmaston may get lucky.
Acaila, one of the node admins started a thread in the Node section of the WP forums with his experience with adsl2, apparently it added a tiny bit extra on to his speeds. I think looking at the speed range diagram for the adsl1 and adsl2, the best thing isn't the extra 4mbit it is the increase in range that adsl2 can provide. A 512 connection at about 6km away from the exchange is nothing to be crying about considering the alternatives.
As to the high speeds I think some people may have to readjust there habits, just becuase you can download at that speed doesn't mean you have to. I know I am going to hate being shaped from 8/1m to 64k/1m (or even worse with node 64k/64k)
And I am pinging better to IGN with iiNet than Internode. Which I am finding amusing at the moment.

Yeh, kinda funny about the pinging... meh.
I'm just not really looking forward to having to change my emails over from node to iiNet but 8Mbit 80GB for the price of 1.5Mbit 30GB...
