i have a Netspace 512/128k connection! & before moving here frm Toowoomba QLD, in CSS my best ping, on a good night was around 6-12! now im here in Darwin, im lucky 2 find a CS server less than 150! so i used this link that measures the connection speed,
what do U guys get? i only got 387.7kbps, im missing sum internet! grrr! i complained 2 Netspace & they said they "will look in2 it 4me" Do all Darwin Gamers need 2 wait till DGA for a good ping?
im with netspace 512/128 best ping ive got so far would be '62'......i played CSS today with around 70 not too bad.....upgrading next month to 1500/256 which should improve my ping some.....my brother in adelaide is with node and he had a ping of 21 [he is with node on 512/128]. :)
ive considered the 1500k plan & spoke 2 netspace & they said it wont make any difference to my ping as games wont even use the complete 512 Bandwith! but they agree my ping shud not B as bad as it is! they are looking in2 it 4me & may hav2 reroute my connection!
I've got 512/128 with Netspace and I've also posted a few messages on the same issue in the Service Provider Discussion. What makes it worse is that it was (and normally is) 45ms. It jumps to 95ms until its resolved. (Last time there was a power outage in the Darwin CBD in December it resolved itself). It was good for a while then doubled 4 weeks ago... Internode have it on their DSL outages page and have resolved it 2 weeks ago but Netspace don't even knwo what teh issue is let alone posting it. Even after advising them of all this they still got me to "reset the PC", turn the router on and off. etc etc.. I'm upping my plan for the last month of my contarct then churning to Internode. They offer a much better service in terms of latency resolution and latency advice. I have a few clients use the Business DSL and all is good.

Agreed, I get about 45 ping to adelaide on Node DC. I didnt go to the last DGA event, but the EVO event I was getting over 100+ ping, no lag just high pings...
Well i was last LAN (looking at other peoples piung in and out of game) and it all seemed fine to me, and i had no complaints.
Seriously if anyone is expierienceigingnging (hell a few more ) inginging any abnormal (no one has looped back the coonections, ripped out cables, plugged into uplink ports, connected two lan cables from thier machine to the same hub and ping flooding themselves etc) lag or high ping please tell an Admin who will then hopefully inform the other Admins and the problem shall be looked into and resolved.

my ping is getting bettr but it is still around 150+, i finally got a technician on the case & all he could do waz recommended a Line-Filter 4 the house phone (pfftlol) Then he tryin 2 tell me that Darwin wont get much bettr ping then wat ive got now! (i lol@him), & he's gunna "look in2 it" 4me so ill keep posted!
But 50ping the norm 4 Darwin? thats wat i expect! ill keep bugging netspace for sum more bandwith & ill say that Internode hav sum attractive plans & they hav been my favourite CSS servers, so churn time maby!?!?!
i am on dial up and i get 200ping, what suburb do u live in? cause i know the exchange for the raaf base and some other places are really bad. But if ur on the casuarina exchange... then i have no help up my sleeves.
Im on 512kbs and i live in Alawa, i think my exchange (when i looked on the telstra website) is nightcliff, is that right, i meen i live in walking distance of CAS Square?
I am on OZEMAIL and my friend in malak on 256kbs only get 20ping more then me.
i get 120 ping on internode and 70 on a iPNG server......
Just moved from 512 --> 1500 it has improved CSS pings by about 5 - 10 max......With 2 computers on same line both on around 68 ping / with 1 only getting 58 ping.
Ping times R gettin better, i can get into servers with less than 100 now, but theres still lag, I have been tryin 2 get those lazy Telstra basterds 2 send a tech 2 look at the actuall line at my house ( im in Nightcliff) as the fone plug is the ol' style & its hanging frm the wall ffs but they dont care! i wana have gold plate connections, that sort of stuff helps with car-audio, so why not? sumfins gota help! or maby just a solid copper lead frm the wall 2 my modem, im using the lead that came with my laptop which waz always best in dial-up days! Thanx Eater & others for the welcome as im "newb" 2 Darwin! oh yea, the ping waz a refreshing sight at the LAN, although i dont hav all the games U guys play (basicly just CSS), but ill soon have many, im gunna buy DC soon, so thats a start!?!?!

I hav started a new thread named: Test Your Internet Speed Here, so as to clear up the fact that im not complaining about LAN speed, rather the quality of internet speed i am now experiencing here in Darwin!
