Well how much longer can this warrior last?

I was certain about six weeks ago that this old fella was going to pass but he is still alive and waving (only just)

But as you more then likely have heard through the media his health is falling apart each few days.
He has done well to reach the old age of 85 but I think he wont last too much longer. Unfortunate but every life comes to a end.

So how long do you all think this bloke will last?
I’m guessing till the 10th of April.

Post 11

Post 12

stop betting on when he will die..

Post 13

Yeah a little wrong, I think I agree with Burk there..

Let him die in peace :)

Post 14

[/rant] I think you guys are pathetic, betting on when the pope is going to die, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves... WAKE UP you wankers....

Post 15

whos the pope?

Post 16

holy crap.. i was awake at 5:30am, seriously NO idea why. I was straight, not drunk, hadn't even had a coffee :| wtf.. but anyway, NBC or something was broadcasting live from that place where he is, and apparently all the other priests were saying he's pretty much ****ed :|

im not a fan of the pope, have no clue why millions of people adore him, but he's an old man, his body is decaying, let him go - don't swamp him with bullshit .. [the people over there now].

Post 17

His Parkinsons disease and heart condition will kill him rather soon i imagine. I feel sad for him. Im not sure what the rules of Catholicism say about fighting to keep him alive, but my feeling would be to let the poor guy die as painlessly as possible.

Quote:
POPE John Paul II is showing the first signs of losing consciousness but is "not in a coma", the Vatican said today. In its latest update, a Vatican spokesman described the pontiff's condition as unchanged and "very grave". Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said John Paul slipped in and out of consciousness this morning.

But he said the pontiff is not technically in a coma and opens his eyes when spoken to.

The 84-year-old pope's health has rapidly deteriorated, with his heart and kidneys failing after he suffered a urinary tract infection. He is also struggling to breathe.

A new health bulletin will be issued at 6pm (2am AEST).

Its like a cyclone warning now, they are having regular updates on his well being. By the looks of it he will go tonight during his sleep so he will pass peacfully.

Post 19

...not like the passengers in his pop-mobile.

Post 20

Well, it's official - 6:20am (our time) the Vatican declared him to be dead.

Game over.

Quote from NN News Link:
The Vatican chamberlain formally verified the death, which in the past was done by tapping a Pope's forehead three times with a silver hammer.
lol, I think thats the funniest thing I've heard all week..
not that he's dead mind you, but that they hit him with a hammer to make sure he's dead :D

Post 22

Yeah thats kinda harsh, if he was just sleeping they probably killed him. A more appropriate way would of been the good old wet willy.

Anyways what happens now? its not like when a king dies and they appoint his son to be the new one is it?

Post 23

I always thought it was the arch Bishop or Cardinal of Rome that took over..........but then again I have NFI :)

Post 24

A council of senior Cardinals elects a new Pope

Post 25

i saw a report before on who would be ideal candidates to be the new pope.

one of the is a black guy from south africa.
and the other i forget

one is liberal and one is conservative...though i forget as well..

if the black guy gets the job, he would be the first black pope

Post 26

Watch Eurotrip and be enlightened Knight ;)

Post 27

I honestly hope they elect a black (or colored, for the more PC among you) pope.

Post 28

Why - just because he's black, or because he's the most suitable man for the job.

Colour of skin should have nothing to do with it..

(not having a go at you, Milenko - I just hate PCness with a vengeance).

The Pope is the Bishop of Rome. Each Pope is elected by and from the Princes of the Church - the Cardinals.
