Ok I got to ask you paladin...what the hell do you do against rogues??
Ill give you a bit of a background first. I have mainly played on Blackrock until recently, getting warrior, mage, warlock classes to mid 40's. My mage got caned say, 90% of the time, my warrior 60% of the time, and my warlock about 30% of the time (would have been 100% without seduce, I am sure)
I have had a look on the wow forums for some strats against them, but there very little that looks at 'real situations' By this I mean with the rogue starting out with a 800+ point backstab, followed by a stun. Generally I can escape this, but i start at a disadvantage and generally find it hard to get back up.
Any ideas?
scenario one: the ambush rogue.
level 60 rogue opens with 1500 crit ambush, i spam psychic scream hoping to get it off before he gets another crit hit or two in. (im level 52, i have about 2300 hp buffed). if i get the fear off, run in the opposite direction, shield, renew, pot, sw:p, by now he's either still feared, or trinketed out of it. if he's still feared, turn and mind blast, mind flay, he's at least half dead by now, and will probably be trying to run away. if you're undead, throw up devouring plague as well. if he's back coming for you, keep running, throw up dp if undead, and vampiric embrace (it all helps) if you can keep that up for 15 seconds, you get your second shield, and then its game over rogue, turn and nuke the shit out of him. does it always work? no. but you stand a fairly good chance against ambush rogues, and you should always win against same level ambush rogues.
scenario two, the stunlock rogue:
he opens with cheap shot, and gets off a sinister strike or two. you've got a couple of options if you have the trinket, you could either break the stun and fear right now, and repeat from above, or you can sit through the cheap shot. he'll probably follow up with a gouge, and then either a cold blood eviscerate (another 1500 point attack), or kidney shot. if he eviscs, you'll wish you broke the stun and feared early, if he kidney shots, you win. break stun there and continue from scenario one.
its never a guaranteed win against a rogue who gets the first move, which is why you should always kill every rogue you see, because its a 95% guarantee if YOU get the first attack in.
the advent of the trinket makes it a lot harder than it was, but fortunately, there are lots of stupid players. i got jumped by a 60 druid last night, and beat him with half mana and full health left. that's a fight i should NEVER have won, but like i said, some players are stupid.
