Post 6
it's a stupid word used by stupid people and the ads are stupid.
They can puff on me.
Post 7
ditto
Post 8
Is this another case of English dictated by advertising?
Or advertising falling victim to slang?
Post 9
It's advertising forcing slang words, unwanted I might add, upon the consumers.
*opens window and leans out waving fist* WELL IT AINT GONNA WORK Y'HEAR?!!!!!
Post 10
what kind of markating dickhead drags up a slang word from 200 years ago (give or take a few) and says hey **** me that would really help sell my product. and just because you say it 50 times in a 30 second comercial still dosn't make it cool oh sorry puff. whats next grouse or choice.
Post 11
very clever marketing tool if you ask me.
Post 12
People actually use the word in real life? n00bs (irony intended).
Post 13
Quote from HeReTiC:

naked girls #1 marketing tool.
Post 14
Im sorry I was across the street. Did someone just say Naked Girls?
Where are they? *Looks around excitedly*
Post 15
Look there is one in that gay porn shop...I'll meet you there!!
Post 16
this thread is so puff.
edit: also it's a bit naive to think that the advertising exec's don't realise that most people aren't actually going to use the word. they do it because it generates publicity, and all publicity is good publicity. this thread is a testiment to that
Post 17
The other word that pisses me off is 'nuffy'.
Or the old ones like 'Cus' (cousin) or 'bruss' (Brother, Bros).
I can stand it when someone uses them in a joking way, but people who still use them as part of their day to day vocabulary, shit me to tears :(
Nah bruss cus click gammon jah naaaaaa
Post 18
Or the ones that go:
Oi bruss, she's nuff jar gla!!! Ay cus!!!

Post 21
bad publicity is not good publicity.
Post 22
i bet the marketing/advertising execs would disagree.
edit: clarification.
Post 23
bad publicity = free advertising, good or bad
Post 24
... just if you wanted to ever use it here are examples :)
Dictionary of Funkadality
sopuff.com
Puff Action: Not to be confused with,
but definitely close to, Perfection. Puff
Action denotes a lithe and sinuous
grace. A heavenly coordination and
synchronicity of movement. “That girl
has some Puff Action going on.”
Puff Art: Awesome art, anything from
street murals to tattoos.
Puff Baby: An expression emphatically
inserted into conversations. Used to
stress the awesomity of particular things
or situations. Generally, the term is
followed by an exclamation mark.
Puff Beats: Extremely enjoyable notes
of the audio nature.
Puff Club: An exclusive gang,
whereby members are required to meet
the following criteria; the wholehearted
embracing of puff culture, a personality
that is inarguably too puff, and last but
not least, an ability to help others
gain puff.
Puff Culture: The beliefs, customs,
practices, and social behaviour
belonging to the Puff Nation people.
Largely encompassing a love of fun,
fun, and more fun.
Puff Diver: One who has mastered the
art of stage diving and crowd surfing.
Puff Doll: The epitome of your
typically cute, next-door kinda chick,
embodying all seriously puff attributes,
that make her so undeniably desirable to
the male species.
Puff High: High on life.
Puff Love: Think hippie free love.
Puff Luck: When a brother or sister
happens upon fortunate circumstances.
The moment is transitory and must be
exploited for all it’s worth.
Puff Nation: A mass of converging
beings, all united in their quest for puff.
Puff On: A Generation Y term set to
replace the past-its-prime saying,
Rock On.
Puff Party: Used largely to compliment
a wild party, where punk, rock and
glamour collide in a raging symbiosis of
colour and sound.
Puff Patrol: A body of persons or
leaders charged with the responsibility
of controlling and/or maintaining social
coolacity and funkadality.
Puff Pop: Often confused with glitter,
high-pitched voices, and choreographed
dancing, this little number is actually
used to refer to, or address one’s father,
on the rare occasion that he may be
behaving in a somewhat non-cringeworthy
fashion.
Puff Posse: Group of cool
young thangs!
Puffalicious: Used to describe
attractive members of the opposite sex.
Puffdown: When a party situation
reaches critical mass and one must stop
to draw breath. You know everything is
firing when you experience puffdown.
Puffection: Used by the Puff Nation to
describe a mouth-watering meal.
Puffle: Often used to describe chaotic
fun, a balanced blend of scuffle, kafuffle
and puff.
Puff Ride: Used to describe a vehicle
or device on wheels, that is extensively
modified, notorious for the resulting
oohs and aaas of passers-by.
Puff Rprsnt: Slang. Used by puff
people. United. Puff represent!
Puff Squad: Similar to the puff patrol,
the puff squad is slightly different in that
it refers to a mass of supporters engaged
with intensifying the puffability of any
given community, similar in its role to
that of cheerleaders.
Puff Stations: A gathering of party
people at someone’s place. A venue from
which to launch the night’s activities.
To “Assume Puff Stations” is to
prepare for fun and a certain measure of
naughtiness.
Puff Stuff: Slang, used openly to refer
to a range of things that embody bona
fide puff essence and characteristics.
Puff Threads: A distinctive dress
sense, largely defined by an abundance
of faded denim, stretch cotton and
rubber thongs.
Puff Wize: An extensive knowledge,
understanding and appreciation of
everything puff.
Anti Puff: Someone who is a show off,
know it all, arrogant.
Blind puff: People who think they’re
puff but aren’t. “Dude, she’s blind puff!”
Defected Puff: Something that isn’t
puff. It’s flawed.
Flip Puff: The opposite to puff. Lacking
awesomity, coolness, and funkadality.
Grasshopper puff: You’re a little bit
puff. Not quite there.
Street Puff: Everyday puff, down to
earth. Available to the masses,
cross fertilisation of ideas.
Underground Puff: Puff extremists
that operate below the earth’s surface,
and are instrumental in continually
updating the ‘cool factor’ that defines the
puff philosophy.
UnPuff: A sad and embarrassing state
achieved by the older demographic when
attempting to revisit their Puff years.
Think the dad in American Pie. Sweet,
but ultimately tragic. A word of warning:
Puff credentials are the domain of the
young.
Vintage Puff: Something that’s old
but still really cool. Things that are
considered vintage, but puff in nature.
Puff 73 (numbers allow for codes to be
established. Meaning doesn’t have to
be obvious).

companies have been ruined by bad publicity.
Like say you found ratshit in your *insert brandname here* chicken do you really think the publicity would sell the chicken??
Or all the bombings in bali that didnt exactly make a whole lot of people say oooo lets go over to bali and holiday there now we have heard some publicity on it.
Post 26
ok let me clarify further, all publicity is good publicity within reason. :)
Post 27
Well wtf word should I use then?
I started using the word ‘puff’ around work, thinking that it’d increase my popularity.
Should I stop now, or will that make me look worse?
Post 28
don't worry ZPC i'm sure most people have given up on you already.
Post 29
Quote from Xyrisk:
Has anyone seen the new dominoes pizza box ...
No.
Neither should they.
By the time she has paid for it and brought it to you for consumption, she should have the box open. When you are done, she should immediately take the box away from you. At best you should see the sides.
Why should you ever need to see the outside of the box?

umm WTF using the word puff would decrease your popularity unless you work in a mental Institution.

I wouldn't listen to the naysayers brus, you go ahead and combine words to increase your popularity cus.
I'd even combine gammon and puff i.e "Nah brus she ain't a budju she puff gammon nuff said."
I'd say your social calendar will veritably leap to life.

You couldn't possibly look any worse than you do on here either way.
Post 33
"Nah brus she ain't a budju she puff gammon nuff said"
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't heard budju since high school.....
Jug thats a classic line, should be your sig :)
Post 34
HHaha, dying of laughter.
Nice combination Jug :p
But unfortunately, it means i have to stab you now.
Post 35
that was pretty good jug. but no seriously, spero, this isnt bad publicity. just because you dont like it doesnt make it bad.

there's two sides to that coin spero.
mars/snickers poisoning recently. all products recalled.
they used the publicity from that to come out with advertising campaigns about "caring" for their customers.. blah blah. it was handled well.
I think you can safely bet your brass razoo that it's helped sales if anything because in the public eye they acted fast and accordingly.
Post 37
Walter Cronkite wants World Government though, so don't trust him.

Here's another example of what you might expect to be 'bad advertising', having a 'positive' effect.
Post 38
oh seriously die in a fire ZPC. noone gives a shit about your political rhetoric bullshit. take your tin foil hat crap somewhere else. people go in this forum to discuss things and have some fun. yes, there are some lively debates and thats all well and good. but when you keep pushing that stupid shit into every thread and every topic it pisses everyone off. seriously, stop it.
Post 39
Nasty uber tard

How was that political?
It's not like I have a preference for 'Order of Death' member, Kerry; over 'Order of Death' member, Bush.
I couldn't care less about the US election.
Doyen was right. That was my point.
Post 40
If you cant see whats political about politicians you are even more f**king retarded then I first thought.
Post 41
won't take this offtopic any more after this, promise :p
but another loose example would be south sydney NRL club. bad publicity, multiple wooden spoons, lots of public flack. got booted from the NRL.
subsequently the community itself generated the funding to resurrect the club - we auzzies love a good tale of the underdog, afterall
I think you'll see much the same thing happen with Bali. given time (as your talking about a large scale international panic with this one), it'll eventually come back stronger than ever to positively combat the disdain we all hold for terrorist acts.
Post 42
ZPC's core point was valid though.
While on a bit of a tangent, it was a prime example of how spin doctors can turn the worst things into a positive.
ZPC just seems to only be able to relate general life events into political terms :p
Post 43
Meh I can come to a comprimise and say that often negative publicity can be turned into good publicity... depending on circumstances. But any fool who think s all bad publicity is good publicity should never work in advertising. I mean people make thousands of dollars a year to make good ads... if all you had to do was kill a few people with food poisoning why would you bother???
As for this topic being publicity... how many people went out and brought dominoes pizza ?????? Just curious ...wouldnt surprise me if it was a few :P
Post 44
im suspecting zpc as a troll of magnificent proportions. It seems inconceivable that he could actually really believe in what he posts

FFS! Leave me alone, you are the one trolling me.
Am I not allowed to contribute my opinion without a hundred posts questioning the authenticity of my intent? If you would like to challenge an opinion of mine, then do it. Don't troll me with these accusations of being a troll!
Ignore my posts and get back to the true Tao of the thread. :p
Zero out.
Post 46
yeh, likewise, I won't say that all bad, is good.
but I also don't think it's the publicity itself that will kill the company if it's bad. it's the ramifications of whatever action caused it. in that sense, I agree with tard.
onetel - bad publicity.
ansett - bad publicity.
but neither really suffered because of the publicity itself, atleast nothing that a good smear campaign couldn't have fixed. it was the fact they were already going broke / immensely in debt that killed them.
Post 47
and the fact that onetel had some serious cooking of the books going on :)
well ZPC, stop titling your posts, don't link to any more of your retarded political websites and act like a genuine person rather than a rhetoric spouting retard who thinks he can solve all the worlds problems and you too can avoid being flamed.
Post 48
if you don't want to be flamed, dont give the fire fuel.
Post 49
I think we are getting off topic... i cant even remember what it was to much flaming... oh thats right the word 'puff'
Comeon guys let a bloke have his opinion without flaming him. So he had a politcal back ground who cares
'puff' good word i might start using it.
Fully puff
keep it real
ps joking bout me using puff
